that sounds like about what i had in mind, but the guy im working with is low low low budget(even for minor honda tuning). His integra just blew a B18A1, looking for a replacement that has a lil more meat.

well im not to familiar with hondas but if he is on that low of a budget then id tell him to just get it running perfectly before modding it. that way when it messes up he will know exactly what he started with.

Just get a B20b, you can get one for $700 or less. They have a lil more power/torque than an b18a/b.
Get the 99-00 spec b20b it has 146hp with 133ft-lbs torque.:goodjob:

damn yall got some good info, how well would a b20 handle boost in the future, what would be the best to boost? GSR?

B20b's dont handle boost well due to the sleeve design and weak rods/pistons. Gsr's can handle around 280whp daily w/ good tune. B18a/b's can handle around 250whp daily w/ good tune. But if your going boost you wanna use forged pistons/rods because its just a matter of time when you pop your stock block.:2cents:

b20 - boosted is a NO GO ... it has week sleeves ... but i have a b18b1 longblock for sale if he jus wants to swap out the motor and the b18b1 head flows better than the B18a1 ,, im letting it go for CHEAP ... so if he jus wants to put in a lil better motor hit me up .if you want to boost a motor .... b18a1/b1 is the way to go !

forged is the way to go, just so you can sleep at night, very few na motors would i trust w/o reinforcement. Hes not complete sure of wanting boost, but after a ride in my 'cuz 2.4 turbo spyder eclipse he kind of second guessed himself, it'll be a matter of time before he comes over to the darkside.:ninja:

i prefer the vtec motors, but a b18a/b1 can be made nicely. i have a b16 and i love it. i have had 2 blue si's if that tells you anything.

I would say if you want all motor then go with a GSR or Type R motor. If you want boost go with an ls block or something. the nice thing about honda motors is that you can swap around heads and blocks in lots of different ways to make the power you want.

buy a stock honda

x2

Its easier to start from scratch than having to fix other peoples mistakes, and most cars with mods were drivin pretty hard. My buddy jumped on an EM1 that he picked up from a 65 yr old lady. Best investment ever.
