Youz got a permitz for dat der gun BOUYYYYYY :police: hah
Yea the gun laws are getting stricter and i imagine will only continue that way, unless you really travel into some rough areas i wouldn't carry. There are way too many shades of gray these days on it and stuff that can go wrong and get pinned on you.
But for home defense, you def can't go wrong with the shotgun, no one is gonna **** with you when they see that, and if they do you have a lot lower chance of missing... :goodjob:

Since forever I am not the governor so I can't give you a date. I am assuming that he has it in the car, loaded in reaching distance. It would be pointless to carry it any other way.

Georgia Code 1611126
(d) This Code section shall not forbid any person who is not among those enumerated as ineligible for a license under Code Section 1611129 from transporting a loaded firearm in any private passenger motor vehicle in an open manner and fully exposed to view or in the glove compartment, console, or similar compartment of the vehicle; provided, however, that any person in possession of a valid permit issued pursuant to Code Section 1611129 may carry a handgun in any location in a motor vehicle.

To me it says if you don't have a permit but are elidgable to get one you can have a pistol in plain view or a glove box in your car, but if you have a permit you can put it anywhere.
Then again I am not a lawyer or a politician.

The way the law is written now, with the passage of HB89, a person with a permit may have a locked, loaded and ready to go firearm anywhere in their vehicle as long as their GFL is on their person. Someone without may ONLY have a firearm in a covered/lockable area of their car ie. Console, glove box, etc. It may be loaded, technically, although if it's visible the law is ambiguous as to whether or not it must be stored separately from the ammunition or not. Also note that you must be able to legally possess the firearm in the state in which you have it. IE if you're 18, you may TRANSPORT a handgun legally, but it must be locked and separate from the ammo.

What this says to me is that you can carry in your car as long as your allowed to by law(not a felon or just not allowed to by a certain condition). But it must be either, in plain view -or- in a compartment of your vehicle. the exception to this is if you are license to carry the gun ie ccw or what ever it is called.
so yes you can carry it in your car, just make sure it is plain sight, or in a compartment, and not concealed on you or stuffed in between the seats or door panel.

Wow this thread is full of wrong information, with the exception of a few people. IA is not the place to get information regarding gun laws. lol Hell this thread started as a new firearm thread and now people who have no business talking about gun laws are trying to enlighten people.
The Hi-Point is decent little starter pistol. It will run hollow points with a polished feed ramp. It has a lifetime warranty so it will always be fixed for free and the service is almost unmatche din the industry. The gun is heavy for it's size and does not conceal well. It is a great plinker, truck/boat gun. Something to get as a backup hidden somewhere in the home. I would not carry it as a primary weapon.
To the guy who thinks an Ar-15 is better for home protection then a handgun. Are you trying to hold off a group of armed individuals? Have you ever tried to clear a dark house with an AR? A handgun is much easier to use within the home with much less chance of overpenetration into your neighbor's bedroom. If you want real home protection get a 18.5" shotgun. Ever seen what a slug does to it's target? 00 buck would be ideal, and 9 pellets to the chest will not allow them to get away.
