i have an 88 integra with a d16a1. heres the problem, it will throw a CEL when it is warmed up, if i downshift, or give it a lot of gas. it smells like eggs also. i just put in a brand new NGK o2 sensor, and i have a relatively new cat(changed about 20k ago). i dont know what else to do. help?

also, the thread in the header is cross-threaded. so the o2 is about a turn or two away from being fully in the header. could that have something to do with it?

thanks!

yea the o2 being like that yes. and your cat is clogged if you smell eggs .... gut the cat or replace it again ..

well i went out and checked. the o2 wasnt in enough. it fell out when i tried to tighten it. but the header is so bad it wont go in. im gonna have to get a new header i guess. :(

even if it is new? it cant have more than 20K on it. the entire motor was rebuilt along with a new full exhaust system.

I'd replace the header first due to the O2 sensor! And just gut the cat

there is no reason to gut his cat seeing that it is already 1 piece exhaust the cat is even welded to it so he cant gut the cat unless he buys some flanges and cuts up the exhaust which is just to much work

yeah. im gonna get a new header first just to make sure. if it still throws the CEL im either gutting it, test pipe, or no cat at all. i dont have emissions to worry about. although i would lose a little bit of torque with no cat, it doesnt have any to begin with. lol

Put a piece of electrical tape over the light and move on.

Put a piece of electrical tape over the light and move on.lol, i would really like to fix it. its a practically new motor, it shouldnt have a CEL. and the smell, its not pleasant. lol
