So last Wednesday I'm heading home and I get this call on my cell. Pretty much goes like this:

Sport1.3: "Dude, look out your rear window. There's a huge f*cking bug on your wing. I'm talking like Godzilla sh*t!"
Ran: "What are you talking abo-HOLY SH*T!"

This thing on my wing reminds me of Starship Troopers. So I jump on the highway, with Sport1.3 in chase, and start to get on it. 45mph, 50mph, 55mph, 60mph... He's still hanging on! Watching the road and this guy hang on is a task. He's got two feet hanging on for dear life and four feet in the air. It's f*cking awesome. About 35-45 minutes later I make it home and Bugzilla had moved from the wing to the rear license plate.

Gotta say, Bugzilla was a trooper. I rewarded his effort by not smashing him under my shoe, kindly relocating him to my backyard.

Apparently it's called a Cicada Killer or something.

Sport1.3

While they may be frightfully large,[1] female cicada killer wasps are not aggressive and rarely sting unless they are grasped roughly, stepped upon with bare feet, or caught in clothing, etc. One author who has been stung indicates that for them, the stings are not much more than a "pinprick"[1]. Males aggressively defend their perching areas on nesting sites against rival males but they have no sting. Although they appear to attack anything which moves near their territories, male cicada killers are actually investigating anything which might be a female cicada killer ready to mate. Such close inspection appears to many people to be an attack, but the wasps rarely even land on people. If handled roughly females will sting, and males will jab with a sharp spine on the tip of their abdomen. Both sexes appear to be well equipped to bite, as they have large jaws; however, they are unable to grasp human skin and cannot bite. They are non-aggressive towards humans and fly away when swatted at, instead of attacking. Cicada killers exert a natural control on cicada populations and thus may directly benefit the deciduous trees upon which cicadas feed

why don't they just hatch when cicada's do?? isn't it like every 7 or 17 years that the cicada's come out?

ya'll remember about 4 summers ago.. they came out.. good lord... that was my graduation year... that was a crazy summer!!!!!
