I'm trying to get just a little more pep outta my si while I build my other project. I got a good offer on some gsr cams. Would that help enough for it to matter? Also what would be the gain if I went with ITR or CTR cams?

I believe for the price of ITR or CTR you might wanna just save. And get like stage 1s most ITR cams I see go for 250.Some one has crowers fs for like 300 I believe but what do I know im a nonvtec dude.

Motorwise I only have intake. I'm tryin to not get too wild with this one as it is my daily driver. I'm getting and full exhaust soon and eventually I'll build it.

Well stg1s are better than stock,You could get intake manifold, headers will give you a lil peep in ya step

yea I was looking @ the skunk2 intake mani, and I heard that a 4-1 header was best cuz it'll give me more torque. Would it be worth it to do the gsr's though?

No not really my friend has gsr cams in his b16.He said he gets more mid range he likes em better than b16 cams.

Whats the vtec in a gsr? If it has more midrange is it lower than a b16?

the cams have different duration and lift. The specs are different its not the vtec engagment that makes better midrange. But b16 hits around 4500k and gsr has butterflys in the manifold so it has two stages.4500k and 6500k I believe

ITR's FTW! If your gunna get stage1's save money and just get the ITR's. Seriously. The ITR's are a good cam, and they still make power after 8.5k. Perfect for a stock B16.

Seems to me you don't even have a header yet (unless you failed to mention it). I'd get a nice middle of the road or high end header/exhaust 1st, or you're just gonna be pissing in the wind w/ cams.

ALSO - after the exhaust I'd get a 50 (dry) or 75 (wet) shot and then call it a day until u build something else. Save the cam $$ for your new build. The gas + header/exhaust will be PLENTY of fun until you get that built.

Thanks guys. Gonna get a header first (it was already on the list) but then I guess I'm gonna either go ITR or CTR cams. Input was bery helpful.

My advice on switching B16 cams to GSR is "hell naww!! dont waste your time and money!" i can prob. crap out 3-4 more HP by the time u finish switching out the cams.

3-4hp=GSR
6-8hp=Type-R's with your b16 exh. mani,stock TB,
10-12hp=Type-R's if u have Headers & Type-R spec int. mani.,bigger Tbodie

^^^^ well said i never tell people to waste time swapping from b16 to gsr cams it's not worth the work.

you should be happy with a nice header exhaust and intake, around a 65 throttle body and some decent tuning.

Trust me man - for 300 street price you can spray the motor - and when you blow by the f*ckers that wasted money on cams (roughly the same price) you will thank me later. But good luck.

For something to get pep in the car and not go all out,Do not get cams. Too much money for not enough return unless you are planning on doing the supporting mods to match. To truly get your return from cams you need to plan on some way of tuning, whether VAFC, crome, hondata, etc. as well as a dyno and someone who knows what they're doing. Do header, exhaust, IM first. After that, go have it tuned with that setup and enjoy it until you do the "full on" build. Little to no down time and much cheaper than opening the top.
