John Mayer is a really good guitarist... people overlook that if they don't like his singing. He is really good on the guitar..

I had my first "mugasm" at a concert I was forced to go to. It was him and the Trio-band thingymabobber at Tabernacle.... At one point he was playing and he got lost into the music and he went off in his own world and I realized how amazing he was...

~sigh~

Yeah he is awesome...

"Say" is such a great song.

I know what you mean.

Like I said they(the band) were playing some song that at that moment in time had no relevance to me b/c I lost a bet and was forced to go....Then I noticed that the guys that were following him stopped started looking around and I focused in on him and I am talking about straight up tunnel vision to the point I thought it was jsut me and him and I just started crying. He is my "Killing me softly" moment.

.... lol i've been there... not like crying... or like fantasizing...

but i literally just stopped and stared in awe at once concert.. music is my passion... and to watch him do what he did on that guitar... it was breathtaking...

oh and NO HOMO!....

I am into metal as well as lighter stuff so I wouldn't say he is the best guitarist of the generation, but he plays more beautifully than just about anyone. I guess some of the older guys I can't say are technically 'our generation' but some of them are so smooth like Vai and Petrucci and Johnson among others

Check out Eric Clapton's Guitar Fest. 2007. JM rips it. you can really see how great he is on that DVD.

I can't stand his music, but I won't doubt he is talented. I think it's a bold statement to claim he's the best guitarist of our generation though.

I really did JM. CLarity is one of my favorite songs along with that one from The Bucket List.

Hes got to be one of the most talented guitarists of our generation easily.

Just because Rolling Stone said it doesn't mean it's true. I believe their top 100 guitarist list was complete bullsht. Kurt Cobain was like 14 and I can play his songs with no formal training. After that whatever RS has to say doesn't hold weight with me.

If going to a Mayer concert be sure to bring some scuba gear because when he hits the stage the women turn on the water works. Both upper and lower.

Buddy of mine went to a concert of his (A smaller venue) years ago with his girlfriend back when he was singing Wonderland, why georgia, and such. He said he went into some old school blues and half the women where there thinking "WTF is this". That's when I first discovered how talented he is.

As for One Republic. I love that song Stop and Stare and actually like Apalogize before the techno drums and that Timbaland guy comes in sucking his own pecker. I haven't heard any ohter songs from them yet so I'm not sure what I think of them yet.

I bought JM new dvd today "live in L.A." and if your a JM fan then you should get it. There are 3-4 maybe more blues songs.. thats what I like the most.. but anyways it starts off with an acoustic set, then a Trio set, and finishes it up with a full band. over 2 hrs long and is great!

and as for him being the best guitarist...

I see a difference between him being your favorite artist and then just realizing how talented he really is, i think he has a lot going for him and a bright future ahead in his career.

Well the thing is you can't compare all Guitarist. Like you just CAN'T compare Stevie Ray Vaughn and David Gilmour together. Their styles are way different yet they are/were both great guitarist.

JM is with out a doubt 1 of the best new age guitarist.
