Can i offer some constructive criticism? $15,000 for an ITR with a rebuilt motor (one that spun a bearing previously) and with pretty bad rear quarter panel damage is a little excessive.

There are almost perfect ITRs going for $10-11K with no body damage. Ive been looking at picking up one recently so i have done alot of research.

You may want to get the damage fixed or re-evaluate your price based on the damage and things that are missing from the car.

May want to post up where the motor was rebuilt, what machine shop it was at, etc. Post receipts for all the new parts you have.

link to 10-11k$ type-r's?, if anything the rebuilt motor would help the price...and the damage to the quarter can be fixed for 400$ , it is really not that bad. and there is nothing missing from the car except the A/C belt. and my price does say OBO next to it...and also i am in no rush to sell...

Ive found 10-15 ITRs with sub 120k on them for $10,000-12,000.

ALl over EBAY and Honda-Tech.

The only ones bringing over that are ones with under 100k and have the optional sideskirts, factory valve cover, etc.

I have yet to seen any ITR go for over 20K , not in the last 2-3 years. Absolute MINT condition ones with under 50k ive seen for $17,000 so i dont know where you came up with $23,000

EDIT: anyone that says they can fix that quarter panel for $400 is doing a **** job of it, IMO. Thats a good $1000-1200 to do it right. Its rippled and its bad enough that the back bumper doesnt line up at all

I was interested in the car until I saw the body damage and found out the motor spun a rod bearing.

The motor spun a bearing and if you truly replaced those parts you should have documentation. How do we know u didn't just turn the stock crank and slap it in with new bearings? Was any machine work performed? What size bearings?

ITs funny on how many cars have been on IA for sale with replaced/rebuilt motors, and ive never seen the value come down due too that, im sure a few people on here have blown a few motors and rebuilt them and sold them for the price they wanted.....

Other then body damage, im sure its a nice running car, thats why the buyer should always inspect a car 100% and ask for proof of motor being rebuilt, not try to drag a car thru the mud on the internet, becasue of the previous owner relationship...

A type-r is a collec tor car and having a rebuilt engine with no records does decrease value. It also makes me weary of purchase if the car wasn't repairedproperly.

Since he cannot offer any pertinent info the car is suspect IMO.

Hell no i dont keep receipts, im married!!!! But my point was did you inspect the motor after it spun a bearing? if not how do you know what needed to be replaced? How do you know it spun a motor badly? It could have just started and he caught it in time. I think these are all valid questions, but it dont seem you are asking from abuyers stand point, but rather bashing the car!!

King Bearings are cheap so they are around $70 for a set.

Thats around $1800 in parts. He has NO PROOF OF THOSE PARTS? so we are supposed to take his word for it?

Fact is this motor SPUN A ROD BEARING, he posted about it, was upset about it, etc etc etc.

HE POSTED THAT THE MOTOR WAS REBUILT WITH ALL NEW OEM PARTS, IM SIMPLY ASKING FOR PROOF , RECEIPTS etc to back his claims up.

When the motor originally spun a bearing he was complaining about having to possibly spend $1000 on a GSR shortblock so im wondering why he felt it neccesary to purchase a $900 OEM ITR crank. Something is fishy.

Furthermore, it goes to character, PERIOD. He is the one that posted information, i simple, as a possible buyer, inquired as to why he spent the money he did an where his proof was. He has yet to post any proof just a simple "i dropped it off at OZs house thats it". I suppose the written piece of paper he has is from OZ himself.

So somehow someone spent $2000 on parts, an no one has any record of it, let alone the labor.

Ok so maybe its not quite $4000 like i stated i was exaggerating, but the fact is its at LEAST $2500 in work , unless OZ builds motors for peanuts, and if he does i would be even more scared of how well the engine was built.

What im simply trying to find out is not how "great the motor runs now" but rather how well it will run 6-12 months from now. If you skimped on the rebuild of an engine with a ROD KNOCK then you open yourself to a ton of questions. Were the mains checked? Spun bearing means loss in oil pressure which means there could be other problems. Now you state that Robi had previously rebuilt the motor, so somehow you 2 managed to fu ck up a perfectly good ITR motor TWICE.

Im sorry but when you have had previous issues with a car as severe as replacement of an engine, then i will ask questions. All you had to do was post a receipt. The fact you are attacking me and getting Danny to cheerlead for you makes me even wonder even more.

You didnt say REPLACEMENT OEM parts, or USED parts, or you bought a USED JDM shortblock, you specifically said NEW OEM PARTS. Why cant you prove it? Any work i ever did to my car i kept receipts especially one as critical as an engine rebuild or swap. Hell my 1994 Civic hatch right now has a NADAUTO swap in it that i installed and i have the receipts.

My ex GF had an issue with her old ITR engine an we replaced the motor with a NEW OEM ENGINE from Sons Acura and it was installed at Honda/Acura Specialists. Even though i worked at Mainstream at the time and was more than capable of installing the motor myself, we thought it best to let a dealership install the engine so we could have PROOF in case we ever decided to sell the car. So when she sold the car she could say "OEM DEALERSHIP INSTALLED ENGINE" not "SWAPPED BY MY BOYFRIEND AT A RACE SHOP".

Most people into ITRs and looking at them keep meticulous records and have proof of what they have done. I guess fanboys arent interested in that and are only looking to make a quick buck and drive off educated POTENTIAL buyers.

Well, I'm a mod, a super mod actually... which means I can fly.

I've read all of this I can tell you this much:


1. I worked at a body shop for a couple summers and I too can attest that properly (pretend this was your car and someone hit it) fixing that quarter panel is I'd think a minimum of $1000, assuming you can get the paint to match up nicely... which may or may not be a problem, since I haven't seen the car in person. If you want to just slap some bondo on and paint it, it will surely be less.

2. If you try to buy or sell something on IA, I have always believed in looking out for our members. Now me personally, like Mike, I am not an idiot. If someone tried to tell me they had tons of OEM parts, I too would say "great, I'd love to see the receipts and find out what shop rebuilt the motor." That's what normal people would say.

I bought a motor once from OZ for my mechanic and he was a super nice guy. In no way should any of this appear to be negative to him in any way.... that being said his last name ins't Nalley, or Willet, or Baranco or any other Honda/Acura dealership last name. It's not unreasonable for people who don't know him to wonder what the rebuild process was. Again, not discrediting him in the least, just making the point that you assume everyone knows him and his entire process.

It's totally reasonable for people to ask about that, and for a buyer to properly respond.

However, you didn't do that, and Mike's great point is that acting like that in my mind, and many other people's mind's, means that you're trying to hide something or feel like you should simply be taken on your word for the lengthy list of new oem parts and a rebuild that you weren't a part of.

Do you know how many different ways there are to hone something ? Ever seen what's called the "dingle-berry" honing tool? Can you tell the difference in a motor that has been hot-tanked vs. one that's been pressure washed and degreased?

I'm just one guy who helps moderate a car site that he enjoys using, so feel free to attempt to discredit me also. But I've owned 36 cars, many of which I sold off this site, and not once was I not totally forthcoming with them. Many of them are still kicking and you'd be welcome to ask those guys if I have any clue about what I'm talking about.

Only part I agree with. It's not worth 15,000(and I hope he doesn't think it is.) but then again the cars that you posted are not for 10,000 and under like you said they were. The ones that were either was turbo'd (prob on its way out) or had a theft title. (Not counting the ebay one as they are bids)




To the op this is a lesson learned to you. Keep your receipts! Even if you know your honest... a person that doesn't know you, just doesn't know you.
You'll get 10,000 maybe 11,500 if you're lucky. I'd suggest you get the car tuned and running perfectly after your rebuild to ensure it is running as a rebuilt car for the next buyer. However, if you did half-ass the rebuild and your now just trying to sell it because of that your a ass hat.

If the OP has a record for being a scammer than Mr. Kidd I applaud you for staying on his ass. If not then you shouldn't be so quick to call him shady etc. just because he doesn't have a receipt.

The issue is NOT about the engine being rebuilt. THe issue is the OP STATING THE MOTOR WAS REBUILT WITH "X" PARTS AND THEN HAVING NO PROOF OF THOSE CLAIMS.

Brand new Exedy carbon kevlar full face disc and pressure plate. Good dunlop tires, one rim has some scratches on it. The car cleans up very nice, only problem is that dent, which I plan or having a PDR guy go over the whole car anyway.
I don't know what book value is, but the car is clean and not modded, unmolested. I really want another 99-00 Si in Electron blue pearl plus some cash. Red and black si are also interesting and maybe a White 00-01 Gsr plus cash. lmk what you guys think, what are they worth? TIA! Robi

Motorex was the famous company who made many people's wishes come true. For years and even till this day they are thought of the only ones who can provide you with a street legal skyline. This isnt the case however, any Registered Importer can.

Its commonly believed that Motorex were the ones who did the crash testing on GT-R's in order to modify them to comply with US saftey standards. Also not true.

J.K Motors of Baltimore were the one's who got the ball rolling on letting us drive these bad boys on US soil. They petitioned the NHTSA to determine weather or not the 1990-1999 Skyline GTS and GTR were eligible for importation based upon the fact they had safety features that comply with US standards as well as having others that are able to be modified to comply.

J.K Motors was the company that enlisted MGA Research Corporation to compile the crash data to determine what structural modifications needed to be made. J.K Motors then requested confidentiality of structural drawings submitted with the petition to demonstrate the cars ability to be modified to comform to standards. They also petitioned for confidential treatment of data submitted with the vehicles petition that confirmed its compliance with the standars, but it was partialy turned down by the Government and is available for everyone to view.

J.K Motors as far as Ive been able to gather, sold or made a deal with Motorex in which they were provided the structural drawings. This part Im assuming.. the rest is fact.

Anyhow.. the Government recently decided that R32 and R34 Nissan Skylines are NOT eligible for importation due to the fact that the car in which all the data was obtained from was an R33. Currently only R33 Skylines can be imported and legalized. In order for R32 and R34's to be let in the process must be done over again on the apropriate models.

You can easily view the list of Standards that the R33 GT-R complies with, as well as those inwhich modifications need to be made.. and even view what modifications J.K Motors did in order make the car comply.

In docket search enter 5507 and then look for "U.S. DOT/NHTSA - Notice of Decision By NHTSA that Nonconforming 1990-1999 Nissan GTS and GTR Passenger Cars Are Eligible for Importation" and download the PDF file.

In short, you need to get ahold of a Registered Importer ( you can view a list of them and find one in your area here http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/ ) and provide them with the information on the modifications needed to be made. If they think they can do it, or agree to it.. you have 120 days to convince the NHTSA that you have brought the car into compliance after it has been imported.

The only thing with held from the public are the structural drawings of the modifications J.K motors made, which shouldnt be too much of a hurdle to overcome, most if not all of the hardwork has already been overcome by them and the knowledge made available to the public by the NHTSA.

A/C tensioner and belt being put on right now...

stupid integras take 32-35oz of r134a...guy at autozone was like wtf its a small car

link to 10-11k$ type-r's?, if anything the rebuilt motor would help the price...and the damage to the quarter can be fixed for 400$ , it is really not that bad. and there is nothing missing from the car except the A/C belt. and my price does say OBO next to it...and also i am in no rush to sell...
