COMPUTER PROBLEMS! PLEASE HELP

Well I got ProStreet from my friend and I was looking for a CD Key and I thought I found one. I download the generator and I try to open it but it gives me some error. My AVG was open at the time and running but it didn't give me a trojan/virus warning or anything (which it usually does). So now my screen (explorer.exe program) keeps turning off and on every couple of seconds. I tried running AVG but my "My Documents" folder comes up? I also tried it in safe mode but I still get the same result. I also tried System Restore to a couple days back, but still nothing! Does anyone know how to get rid of what's happening? Please no bs, I just need serious answers that will help get rid of it.

Yeah I do but is that the only option I have left? Because I have LOTS of stuff on here that I wouldn't want deleted :no:

yeah, i was in your situation yesterday, but my **** ended up reading military time and system restore didnt work, there is some really bad virus flowing through the net right now, you're most likely gonna have to re-format your cp and belive me i know it sucks cuase i just lost 6k songs, but its your only way out. if possible i would burn all your "most valuable" files on to a data disk and any songs you have on to a mp3 disk. but yea i think reformating is your only option right now.

yeah, i was in your situation yesterday, but my **** ended up reading military time and system restore didnt work, there is some really bad virus flowing through the net right now, you're most likely gonna have to re-format your cp and belive me i know it sucks cuase i just lost 6k songs, but its your only way out. if possible i would burn all your "most valuable" files on to a data disk and any songs you have on to a mp3 disk. but yea i think reformating is your only option right now.

i dont know about only, but it is the easiest. if you have another computer that you can take the hd out of, you might be able to hook it up to the computer and then when you boot your computer up go to the bios and tell it to boot off the new hd and then transfer files from your old hd to a disc or something.

I would say download a Knoppix livecd off the internet and boot off it. It should see your hard drive and mount it under something like /mnt/sda1 or something. Then copy all your files onto a DVD or external HD, and then reformat/reinstall.

Dude the only thing that you can do is to back up the files that you want to keep. Just use an external hd or get a 2gb flash for like 15 bucks. Wipe it and then rescan the entire disk with your backups before you even start to load the stuff back on.

If you are familiar with what systems need to be running you can check them in your task manager and if you see something trace it. A lot of viruses have been found hiding in .dll's lately

I know that you can go to the dos prompt and c:/format
but do some research

You'll have to have a windows disk to put it back on though. If you don't...take it to the geek squad and just tell them all you want is a wipe and a reinstall of windows. Shouldn't be that much
