it's hard to call it a movie... it's more like a propaganda flick. Usually todays movies will have a subtle lib message to it. This was as subtle as a sledge hammer in a china shop.

yeah i remember when it was cheap to see a movie. dont know why the price skyrocketed tho. Maybe we should start looking into film speculation as much as we are bitchin about gas prices.

no, not really....but everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the movie.

because you are paying for the soaring rate of what actors/actress are working for now, you are also paying for the 100's of geeks who work behind the screen with CGI and animation.

No, you were being gay because you like the taste of nutsack.
I've wanted to see Wall-E since it was first announced. I think it was well done, despite the obvious environmentalist/Luddite message. Definitely recommended for a family flick.

I'll get it on BluRay I can wait.. also the reason for the rise in Box Office prices, IMO, is due to pirating movies and due to people just waiting for it to go to video... personally I don't find it worth paying $10 for a movie I can't control in the event of needing to go use the restroom emergency call from a friend/ family member..

So the message of people should start doing stuff for themselves, solving their own problems, and not being babysat is bad?
no, it's basically saying that us american's are big lazy fatass's and that big corporations are bad....well, no **** there....but watch the movie, it does not happen to show any other race or nationality it's basically a punch to americans as a whole....yeah, they say the whole world sucks and all that....but I didn't hear any french or german people or asians, just really pure flat out americans. Corporations are not bad because that's how we are able to buy so many things we like at a reasonable cost...before mom and pop shops ruled because it was the only game in town.
Last I checked, alot of people do stuff for themselves, and solve their own problems, and people do need to be babysat and the babysitters are IE: police, fireman, medic's...For a kids movie it needs to not have such a heavy tone and be more fun...yeah, kids watch it and see robots, and oohs and ahhs...but for a person with half a brain cell can pick up the whole "yeah I get it, the world is in bad shape and it's going to be one huge trash pile up" but they made sure to hammer that point in quite well.
Another kid flick, Kung Fu Panda....it has a underlying message but a good one that isn't beaten to death into you...

07-02-2008, 06:31 PM
The reason its beat to death is so the younger kids with less than half a brain cell can pick up the message too. You forget, the movie was intended for them;) :goodjob:

Exactly. Movies278 FTMFW.I know where that is. I might just start goin there from now on. might be worth the drive if i can save 2 bucks on a ticket. I was told back when i was in the business that the theater doesnt see the price of a ticket, that all their money was made in concessions. Now that i see that hiram can charge 8.50 and Barrett Pkwy can charge 10 bucks, im thinkin differently

oh wow, how about Mexico, umm, pretty much all of South America, Africa, and don't even get me started in Europe....yeah, they are in so much better shape than America.

Actually, the message is intended for the parents of the kids....producers and writers know who are taking these kids to the movies and make sure they see it...
....hence why there is always some adult humor in Disney/Pixar movies

funny and entertaining movie. :goodjob:
It was a great movie with or without the "think green" message. Very pro-Apple and anti-Wal-Mart but it wasn't really enough to bother me. A fun adventure movie and very pleasing visually. The backgrounds alone were phenominal. Highly recommended. :goodjob:

i saw it and really liked it....hardly any dialog, but it was still entertaining from beginning to endThat was one of the things I liked most about it. The lack of dialogue between the main characters allowed you to focus more on what they were doing, rather than what they were saying. I actually heard parents complaining that the characters didn't speak enough.
404 Error: Point Not FoundI'm just not a fan of subliminally marketing things to kids so that you'll sell more product.
"Mommy, if we get a computer can we get an Apple? Wall-E was an Apple so they must be the bestest!"

commonly known fact: many parents are idiots, who will raise little idiots, who will unfortunately become idiot parents themselves...talk about a vicious cycle huh?

I didn't even really notice the undertones until after I had gotten out, but I did get the BnL as big as a city block, the fact that everyone was fat including the kids, and the fact that BnL had taken over everything. That being said, all I noticed as far as Apple references were the Mac startup sound and how minimalist EVE looked compared to WALL-E (Side note: WALL-E seems like a metaphor for Windows: ugly & sometimes clunky, yet can keep working forever; whereas EVE is like a metaphor for Apple: smooth, sleek, and keeping as much from the people that use it as possible).
But it was a really good movie, even though the undertones are going to have Greenpeace applauding it. You couldn't not get choked up at the end.
