Ugh... CEL is on... Thinking that whoever installed the up pipe didn't do the EGT sensor delete and the extra boost finally triggered it to go off.....

It's probably creeping a bit because of the catless up pipe. When I went to a catless set up, i had to replace a restrictor pill in one of my hoses going to the turbo. Ultimately, Cobb Accessport is where I'm headed. Fortunately, with the 02-03 cars the ECU takes kindly to a MBC, moreso than th 04-05s and definately better than the 06-07 "Hawkeyes" like yours. Its my understanding the the ECU is able to accomodate up to 17psi at WOT without any tuning solution. I fall below this range (max boost of 16.4 in fifth gear and it drops lower in every gear- approximately .5-1psi per gear)
The problem with a MBC arises when you start running a high boost level at part throttle. The ECU compensates, but it has the potential to run borderline unsafe lean and consequently very high cylinder temps. I'm doing two things to compensate for this, one running one step colder iridium plugs, and two keeping an eye on my boost gauge. If i start to see more than 8-9psi at very low throttle, I usually go ahead and downshift just to try and avoid extremely lean A/F ratios.
On a side note the CEL was from when I installed my TT yesterday morning, I hooked it up to the vehicle speed sensor wire at the ecu, but lacked the time to solder it and it came undone. :screwy: After school I found an Autozone and got the code, borrowed some tools, bought some tape and fixed it on the spot. :bump:
Now I just need to install my front lip and finish cleaning it up. Joe? you ther? Oh, Joe?!?! lol

If weight is a concern then I would stay away from Rotas, Sportmaxxs, Drags, etc. The RPF1's that Andy recommended fit the requirements and they can be had for relatively cheap.

IMHO do not paint your stock wheels. Find some V-Dub stockies that would set it off if you have too. Some of the GTI's and such had awesome wheels that can be had for really cheap on vwvortex and such.

Amen. The import scene is not what it used to be. It's mostly about bragging rights these days and people are willing to get well over their head just to say they have a set of $5k wheels on their car. Would I like a set of CCW's? Absolutely but you won't see them on my car unless I come across a good deal. The most I'll spend on a set of wheels is ~$2,500 depending on the wheels. Exactly. Make the initial investment on your first set of wheels, and you will never spend another dime on wheels. I paid $800 for my RPF1's and ended up with Volks, a brand new set of Team Dynamics, and finally some stockies with brand new tires to sell it. I bought tires once through all of that. :D
