I was wondering if somone could fill me in.Im kind of confused some people say just buy the ecu.Why not use the stock one and get it chipped? Also what does a basemap consist of and how much do you pay for uberdata or crome? When they do basemaps what do they need to know about your set up.And what does basemap consist of.

Well looks like you just need to do a littile more research for the answers but ill help. Factory ecu's are always a safe bet for stock engines. Obviously a chipped ecu that can be tuned is better when on a modified engine (cams, more diplacement, etc). Some ecus however dont have a chip that is tuneable available just a "performance chip" which in some cases can be a little on the dangerous side. A base map is a tune set to make sure the car will run and not hurt itself by running lean or having the timing too advanced. That doesnt mean it will run well though, the point of a base map is to be able to drive the car until i can be tuned properly. Uberdata and chrome are very cheap but require someone who can solder and has the reflash tool for the eprom chip. Who ever is doing the chip will ask the important questions about the set up like Compression ratio, displacement, cams, etc for the basemap.

Have fun

it really depends on your setup and what you have ecu wise. a little more info will allow me to give you the best route to take.
