Anyone had a root canal w/in the last year or so?

i gotta get one tomorrow and im kinda freakin out.

i dont like the dentist and everything seems to hurt when i go.

i just want to know what to expect. im planning on:

1)begging to be put to sleep
2)settling for nitro.
3)crying
4)laughing
5)going home and getting effed up on pain meds. (hopefully)


so anyone else had the pleasure recently?

well for some reason Novocaine doesnt work on me so its either sleep time or gas time. hell last time i went in to get a crown put back on my tooth i didnt get anything cuz the procedure was going to take less than 10 minutes(BIG MISTAKE) but if it worries you that bad you should have got him to prescribe you some Valium to take before the procedure to aid in the not knowing of what is going on.

Expect for the sh!t to hurt like hell. I had one and my nerves were extra sensitive I had three shots to numb the pain but to no avail I wanted to cry and im 25. It may not hurt you the way it did me but it took three time bfore they actually finished. I have a high tolerance for pain. But when that drill twisted into the nerves in my teeth, that sh!t blew my mind. I though getting my ankle crushed hurt this here hurts. Thats all. Good luck.

just take about a 1/4 gram of cocaine, mix it with a little bit of tooth paste and put it on the bad tooth. you wont feel that sumbish if you wanted to.

Always talking about cocaine!.....lol, I had it done about 6 months ago and it wasn't as bad as everyone told me,... I mean yeah it did hurt alittle bit, but not crying bad.

**** was fine for me... needle only felt like a pinch when they hit me with novicane (sp?). The problem with mine was that after they got done with most if it, they tried to stop my tooth from constantly oozing... it didn't. So I had it capped and they told me to come back in a week. Went back, finished the procedure with no problem, and they a month later went and got my crown. I'm glad I got it done... **** doesn't hurt at all now. :)

I had one done last year and it's not that bad. Be strong mentally and dont be a puss lol and you should be alright. Just get another dose of those shots and you should be fine. If it hurts just tell them to give you another dose. You shouldnt feel anything the next day, maybe a lil soreness nothing to bad.

A root canal is NOT that bad, honestly. I've had a lot of dental work done....don't worry about it, I don't personally think anyone likes the dentist. But be strong, you'll make it!!

well i just got back it wasnt that bad... it takes forever and my mouth was as wide open as it could be for 3 hours so im sore as ****.

and i just got home and my cap fell off so i was pretty pissed... now i have to not really eat anything until they can glue it back on monday.

but yeah it took them forever to get it numbed... they had to go back like 5 times to get it numb. but after that it was just boring. and cost $700.
