Yes, this guy is 1 of 4 Medal of Honor Recipients during the current Iraq war. He and 3 other SEALs were on a roof top being ambushed, civilians were blocking the roads and shouting on loud speakers to fight the Americans. The enemy tossed a grenade on the roof, hitting him directly in the chest, then falling to his feet. He immediately dropped and covered the grenade with his body, saving the lives of 3 fellow SEALs. He was evacuated but died 30 min later, the 3 other SEALs were injured, but continued to fight their way out. This man is the definition of hero.

The Golden Trident is what the SEALs earn after BUDs all all that other insanity. The blood sweat and tears the dish out be able to recive that trident is incredible. There are a couple things that make it so amazing. First, that many SEALs in one place, for the sole purpose of paying respect to a teammate. Second, them in a sense giving up the one true phsycial identification that makes them a SEAL. Its just all around outstanding on many different levels. Most people wont understand, i think only SEALs can grasp and understand the photo 100%. The rest of us try or best to understand and appreciate it.

Hindsight = 20/20 I think he acted on instinct.. logic takes longer than the amount of time they had. Many would have tried to jump out rather than do what he did which is why he is to be commended and respected.

falling onto a grenade instantly after realizing what is happeneing in the heat of the moment with no time to think out a plan takes the time bending down to pick it up takes alone, let alone coming back up and throwing it somewhere "safe" You have anywhere between 6 to 8 seconds after the pin is pulled and some grenades go of prematurely at 3 or instantly(rare) due to defects. You don't know how many of those seconds that grenade has spent traveling up to the roof.

Also: I counted 44 tridents (assuming they're all the same as a few stray objects seem different) and that's kind of a guestimate with the blurry pixels at the far end of the coffin. But if 44 is even close that is amazingly impressive.
