SR20DE with header in my Sentra. Plan on keeping it N-A as it is now. Cams, high compression pistons in the future, but cosmetic work for now. I pull harder than B16. Just wanted to throw out some Nissan Rep.

reps for the se-r... ran my buddies 83 z28 the other day. he got mad... lol... they are not the fastest thing in the world but they have decent pick up... Just hate the 3k rpm at 60

b16 and H22 are what most of the honda's rep. I looked in this section and saw honda after honda motor. Yeah, Honda hits Vtec and pulls, I pull through all rpms. :D, yeah my friend has a 94 civic with a b16 swap.

sup bro..put an sr20ve, nissans version of vtec and call it a day..gurantee any type r swapped killer..im pushin 190+ @ wheels rite now in da sentra..

Nah, think ima build on the DE. It has lots of potential, and Its already in the car.lol. Yeah, I'm pretty happy with it, its the USDM SR20DE with header. It pulls pretty good. lol

I'm anti vtec. Its nothing special anymore, but I hate the fact its soo glorified. I over heard this guy with a gsr saying when vtec kicked in hard, his dash shook so much. :no:

lol, yeahh, Honda people tend to think Vtec pwns all. I prefer an engine that pulls throughout the RPM range.

i find it funny how you say "I like power through out my RPM range", but when it comes down to racing or drag racing or anything of that sort.... you dont start at like 1k rpm... you are in at least the top THIRD of your useable RPM. oh and if you want to talk about vtec.... I got some I-Vtec you can come play with ;)

Hah, you let me build a bit and I'll give you some action, I say you should go after Wunquick. :D Yeah, Im doing tranny and clutch this weekend after the track probably. yeah, you do drag at high rpms, but i can feel power through all rpms, where as you only feel it in V-tec. :-p

my car pulls from start to finish at 8k..1st gear will break loose once vvl kicks in, which is at 4800..best time at the track was 13.7 @ 98 mph..

And remember when you shift gears you still need power through the whole rpm range. it's not just for take off. :goodjob:

I can vouch for tunnel, his se-r is one of the quickest that I've seen. Some tuning and cams should put him at 200+.

But to the op, a b16 isn't fast but is a fun little motor.

well his power to weight ratio sounds about right for his ET and trap. especially since he was on slicks. On street tires the best i have been able to cut was 14.1 at 102.7. Give me some slicks and I'd be in the low 13's easily and yes I would be launching a little high, because my stage 4 clutch and DSS stage 2.9 axels could handle a 6k rpm launch with slicks.

heres a thread killer

"power wasnt as great as i was hoping for in the lower boost levels. but damn, it breaths above 20psi. we ended the night a little early as the walbro 225lph pump just couldnt keep up. we ended at 30psi making 530whp and 331tq. it still has more in it too. the car was leaning out above 8000rpm. so with a little more fuel i should pick up about another 10-15 horsepower, with more rpm (10,000rpm) it should pick up another 15-20hp. hopefully when all is said and done, itl be close to 550 wheel horsepower. and that SHOULD be good for mid to low 10 second quarter miles."

I havent heard of a rwd VE, only fwd, but that doesnt mean there isnt one.

I love these "Honda Hate" threads! Makes me glad I own the car that others compare too!

Anyways, a b16 in any other chassis besides an EF is trash. I own a crx with a b16 and I pulled on a b16 swapped 95 civic coupe and I had a d15 engine in my hatch and a d-series tranny on my passenger floor board. So before to write off all b16s, look at what chassis they are in.

Ve guys, I got must respect you all. Your motors are pretty ill.

Lol. Shouldn't a 2 liter engine pull harder than a 1.6 liter anyways? I'm a Nissan guy but a B16 really isn't much to compare to is it? How about running against something bigger? Like a B20 maybe?

b20 = torque b16= high end horsepower. b20 with b16 head tho is another story. i mean naturally aspirated i think honda has it down most other car companys did take the easy way out and go to forced induction, and another thing honda took into account is weight, they concentraded in optimizing power to weight ratios. thats why they have relatively weak cars that are pretty fast.

IIRC ( and no offense to CJRP as he's a good friend of mine), but the the b16 he is referring belongs to is a friend of ours. I've raced both cars at silver dollar, running a 15.2 in the non-LSD b16 97 civic and ran a 15.5 in the LSD Sentra. The civic had less traction, smaller stock exhaust (no cat), and I broke the shifter in 2 when I shifted into 2nd gear... and still ran faster. Not to mention a smaller motor.
