Granted I doubt anyone here really knows who he is since he isn't a rapper or ghetto. But Tim Russert died of a heart attack today. He was 58.

WASHINGTON - Tim Russert, NBC News’ Washington bureau chief and the moderator of “Meet the Press,” died Friday after collapsing in the bureau, NBC News said Friday. He was 58.

Russert was recording voiceovers for Sunday’s “Meet the Press” program when he collapsed, the network said. No details were immediately available.

Russert, the recipient of 48 honorary doctorates, took over the helm of “Meet the Press” in December 1991. Now in its 60th year, “Meet the Press” is the longest-running program in the history of television.

In 2008, Time Magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Every sunday morning I get up to watch Meet the Press and to be honest I figured Tim would be there till I was well into my 40's.. it really shocked me when I saw the news yesterday. His work kind of inspired me to change my major to journalism.

For those that don't watch the news Tim Russert is one of the FEW, very FEW journalists who remain objective. With Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, Sean Hannity (Not sure if he's really considered a journalist) you know where they stand but Tim was tough on everyone and the content on Meet the Press was always good. I think the debate he moderated with Obama and Hillary was one of the best.

Anyone who may become interested in Journalism or the political coverage in the future will really miss out on how it SHOULD be done. I just wonder who will take over for him.

Yeah I was sad to hear this Friday, Watched MSNBC for a few hours when I got home while they all reflected on his life and career. Sundays Meet The Press they left his seat vacant... sad.
