Here is something we did on another forum.

Ill give a rep to who can guess every car that has worn Gulf Colors at Le Mans for 1967 - 2008

Just make it a list with the year first and then the car. Ill make it easier with the pics of the cars.

1967 - Ford GT40
1968 - Ford GT40 - ill accept
1969 - Ford GT40 - ill accept
1970 - Porsche 908 - no
1971 - Porsche - need model
1973 - Porsche - no
1974 - Porsche - no
1975 - Porsche - no
1994 - Porsche LMP - its a based on one and has Porsche power, but not a Porsche
1997 - McLaren F1 - good
2001 - Audi R8 -good
2005 - Courage Ford -good
2008 - Aston Martin Vantage -good



so these are left.

Hint.....
The 1967 car is not a Ford Chassis
From 1967 - 1975 they were run by John Wyer

94 was a Kremer, used Porsche engine...isn't there a Porsche that looks just like it?? :???:

As for 67...I don't know. Looks like a GT40 kind of but isn't lol. Another Mirage?

1968 - Ford GT40 MKI
1969 - Ford GT40 MKI

(The 68 and 69 winner is the exact same car that won twice)

1970 - Porsche 917k
1971 - Porsche 917L
1973 - Mirage M6 - Ford
1974 - Mirage GR7 - Ford (GR is Gulf Racing)
1975 - Mirage GR8 - Ford (Won the race)
1994 - Kremer K8 - Porsche
1997 - Mclaren F1 GTR
2001 - Audi R8
2005 - Courage C65 - Ford
2008 - Aston Martin DBR9

I wasn't sure about the 1967 cars, and obviously knew nothing about the Mirages of the '70s, lol, and I couldn't remember the chassis builder of the 1994 car.

The Mirages of the 70's were qucik cars, powered by the Ford DFV Formula 1 engine. There is a book by John Horseman (John Wyer's Team Manager) called "Racing in the Rain". It is a good read for history of Lemans from the Early 60's through the late 70's.

Nice answers there guys. I wish the Peugots would come over for Petit LeMans this year. I'd buy the best tickets to see that battle.
