On 285 Eastbound near Peachtree industrial Blvd. , not moving................because my F*cking wheel fell off the Rx-7.

Funny thing is, my new rear brakes came in the mail today and I haven't installed them yet, so I was going to throw the other rotor and caliper out anyway. The wheel rolled awaya dn I recovered it safely sitting against the median, paid $125 to have it towed. Lesson learned: get a torque wrench, and don't just "tighten all the lugs down as hard as I can".

This is the car you might've seen today:

I'll take the pics tomorrow when the sun comes up. It really only made the edge of my brake rotor look like a mountain range, and bent the f*ck outta my dust shield.

omg. that's scary. i would have freaked out & killed myself.

remind me to check my lug nuts tomorrow.

haha, i can kinda relate to you though. i broke two lug studs off 400 miles from home when i got my del sol wheels. i had to drive 10 mph for like 30 minutes to a repair shop. it blew nuts.

Yeah, it was pretty scary, the car just kinda went "clunk" and slammed me down as it it came to a hault, I put it in neutral then turned it off about the same time I see my wheel rolling past me into the fast lane. Apparently, my wheel didn't htink I was driving fast enough and went into the fast lane without me haha, nobody got hurt although it almost wedged itself inside a truck's wheel well. I turned on the hazzards and the police shut down like 4 lanes for me to get it towed to the shoulder then I rode home. It was sooo embarrasing, people just wanted to get by but a lot of ricers and a few nice car enthusaist -type-people did a bit of rubberneck action to see the downed 7.

damn that sucks, but not the first i heard of, i was on 285 one day, and i pass this guy in his mercedes, and he just got out to look at his driver side rear wheel, which was not on there any more, and im like wtf, not thinking anything of it, 10 seconds later, there is his wheel rolling down the middle of 285 LOL, ****s rolling like 70 mph, slowly going from the right lane to the left, then some gangster in his caddy doesnt see it, and it nails the side of his car leaving a huge black line down his car. i couldnt stop laughing, but if it was me i would have **** a brick. but at least nothing serious happened to you. did it just all of the sudden fall off?

I had my s14 SE wheel fly off once on the bypass, luckly enough i felt it and was feathering hte gas to see what would break... i felt the wheel studs break and made it off of the white line to the side of the road with the little bit of speed i still had. however, it wasnt my fault. The shop i had that changed my rotors, wheels tuds, lug nuts, and new tires refunded all of that free of charge and put me on a new rotor, wheel studs, and i was on my way. pretty neat how things work out.

Was it you that was on the side of the interstate at the Chamblee-Dunwoody offramp? What time was it?

did you break the studs or just lose the lug nuts? i had a wheel fall off my 64 vw bus i was with the guy i bought it from driving down the road it started making a strange noise about the time i asked him what it was the wheel came off went under the bus lifting it in the air then proceeded to roll on down a hill about a half mile from us. lol. oh the good times.

no, it was bad before that happened and it started clearing up at 5, only, around 6 to 7-ish, yeah that was my fault

and to the person who asked, yes, it did "just fall off"

Pikchas!

The wheel that came off sitting in the hatch:

New pads:

I installed it all already and the car is driving again. The studs are torqued in at 87 ft lbs. as stated in the FSM.

yeah, it was me and a friend as well as a guy who stopped for me. Well I don't know if it was near Chamblee dunwoody though, just that I was on the side of the interstate and the only sign I could see wes "Peachtree Industrial Blvd. Exit 31B 1/4 mile" don't go that way much so I don't know where I was fully.
