It's not really outdated the term you seek. More like knew when to quit and to quit while you're ahead. Outdated and washed up are really the same thing. I've heard a few "comeback" records by some old school artists and I'll damn sure admit they suck. I got Grandmaster Melle Mel's new one a year ago and thought to myself, WTF??? There was one track that was classic Mel but the rest were modernized to fit today's rap style. It was garbage. Same with some others. Ice Cube is the only artist that has been able to consistently hold his own for the length of time he;s been around. Later, QD.
