Cell Phone Pic FTW

I see this guy on Hwy.92 all the time on my way to work. He has raisers for his STi wing so that it's literally twice as tall as normal. It stands higher then the roof does now. The wing itself actually bounces when he hits a bump. I can't help but laugh at it.

Seriously, WTF?

isn't it a chargespeed spoiler extension

Ran
06-02-2008, 12:16 PM
isn't it a chargespeed spoiler extensionCould be. I have no idea. The car actually wouldn't be that bad if he's just lose the retarded wing extension. It's got a nice front lip, wheels, and what-not.

maybe that's the Subaru equivalent to spacing the hood up on a Honda.

The stock STI wing makes a significant difference at 150mph at Road Atlanta, the car is much more stable with it. That wing looks stupid but its probably a lot more functional up there in clean air. On the same note though that guy is probably never going to go to the track.

I have this picture in my head of an sti and the airflow over the roof is being sucked down under that wing.

I may be wrong though, i might work ina wind tunnel.

I've seen this car on Barrett, that wing looks retarded. It is massive and from the side it just looks stupid. But the car would look good if he didn't have that huge wing

3 things.

1. the car in the op is a 04 and 05 so it doesn't have that second wing element on the back of the c pillar.

2. You can see how the airflow is naturally sucked downward after it hits the roof so basically in my head, the wing that guy put on the car would be missing the air coming down from the roof.

But thats how i see it in my head, might no actually work that way.

3. I cant read anything in your second pic.

Batlground

That picture isn't showing downforce its actually showing lift, to know how effective the wing is you would have to know how much lift is created without the wing.

Chargespeed extension... im going against the grain on this one. It MAKES that car imo. Would be my first mod if I had an sti. I love that ****.

WOW that was a super nice burn on the sh#tstang... :bump: lol plus mustang owners cant knock a big wing... if ford never had put that park bench on the back of a cobra r then u might could knock it....

You sound like just another biased Mustang basher so I'll pay you no mind. I could go off on Civics (judging by your username), but I'm sure you're already familiar with the majority of the burns.

I saw him on 75S one night on my way to Pink Pony South. He got owned hard and I gave him the jump, lol. I went from 3rd gear and by 4th gear I had a bus on him. He did a flyby on me after that and got off on the West Paces Ferry exit.

I was like, "Either I'm really effin sleepy and can't see straight or that's the biggest f#%&ing wing I've ever seen on an STi."

So you're saying you voluntarily bought a car with a strictly aesthetic hood scoop yet have the gull to make fun of STi owners for their choice in ridiculous wing risers? :D

He got you there, dude.

But yeah the wing is retarded. Maybe he really likes talking to cops or something. I like the OEM STI wing, huge as it is. It is actually functional. It does add 50-60lbs of downforce at high speeds, but that thing would probably create more lift than anything. Geeeez.
