1.6L don't really make that much power unless you put a crap load $$$ into it which i see it's pointless but everyone have their own taste..it's hard to get 180-190 on a b16 but goodluck...:goodjob:

Sorry homie, but that's the truth. If you are building a motor for n/a, the worst motor (besides a d-series) is a b16. Fully built you "may" touch 180-190hp, but you're have about 115lbs of torque :lmfao:. If you were to put the same effort (if not less) into a 1.8 (or up), you would yield alot greater results.
*Original poster*
You will better off getting a 1.8L or 2.0L block and using your head. :2cents:

That's kinda low?!? :???:
Are you using a good header? What size exhaust are you running? Is you're motor high compression? Are you tuned? Those cams might not be the best for your setup, if you're not high compression.

Since your pops needs 110oct, I'm guessing he's over 12.1 c/r. If so, that car isn't a DD.

B.S.- no "stock" b16 in a hatch(even gutted out) can pull a stock type-r
the only way the hatch would pull would be from a dig and it'll be in front for just a second or two cuz of the weight difference.

patrick4588
06-03-2008, 10:47 AM
^^^ its so funny seeing ppl talk about their stories and they own all. there could have been something wrong with the type r, ****ty driver, etc etc. there are soooo many variables. just because you saw a type r lose to a b16 one time, doesnt mean if you have a b16 hatch, it will beat a type r. if you look at the numbers and math involved, typically a stock itr will make 175whp + -. a b16 makes 140whp + -. take into account the weight difference of say 300lbs or so and you still have the type r winning. so mathematicaly, the type r would win. like i said, there are a lot of variables that come into play when comparing two cars.
to the OP, i would buy a gsr shortblock and use your head on it, that will yield much better results. then boost it :)

why not?:
ITRs are mid 14 second cars!~ Just cause its a ITR doesnt means its god gift to VTEC.
stop benchracing, its easily possible for any swapped hatch to beat an ITR, even a b16.

Well thats not that low considering that most people who do built motors locally never even come close to 200whp , its a motor thats slapped together, cams are degreed, etc.
Hes got a decent setup, but again, NA isnt like turbo, there is an art to it, if it isnt built right dont expect big numbers

so now the b16 was rebuilt, and the type-r had cams, testpipes, i love how storys change down the line. look bro b16's do have potential but pretty much all the b-series have potential, it's just that some ppl like to be different and i am just advising that you'd be spending too much money on a 1.6 to get power "There is no replacement for displacement"
----->>oh to the OP just put the head on whatever u want, LS, b16, GSR, if your going all-motor u might want to use some higher comp. pistons, valves, etc. to make that stage 2 cam get to work.

lol this thread is a joke most of these guys with a few exceptions wouldn't know a fast car if it hit them in the face.
b16's are great engines it just takes more to make power with them because the displacement and and lack of torque. thats why ls swaps normally run right with b16 swaps on comparable cars.
if you really want to know to power of your car then dyno it. it could make 120whp or 165whp you never know just try it.
and just for the record i had a sirII b16 swap with crappy dc header skunk exhaust and skunk 2 intake manifold make 158 on a mustang dyno tuned on a chipped p28 i guess it was the little b16 that could.

getting a base dyno to see where your motor stands "as is" is a great start.....then you know what mods you have AND what power they are making.....wondering and hoping dont do much good.... as I found when I dyno'd my built b18c1 and it came up waaayyy short of what I had expected....knowing what you have, what power it makes, THEN planning your mods accordingly is the best thing I could advise....hope this helps :goodjob:

ok then, gsr, ls/v, doesn't matter. If its bone stock with no internal work, then it is a waste of my time. Now if he has cams, valvetrain, mayben some block work, then I would be more than happy to run.

ok then, gsr, ls/v, doesn't matter. If its bone stock with no internal work, then it is a waste of my time. Now if he has cams, valvetrain, mayben some block work, then I would be more than happy to run.
Other than that, I'm not fixing to drive 45 min to southside just to race. That would just be plain ignorant.Thats true im not sure if its stock i ran it its pretty quick for a b16, but i gurantee its not stock no matter what they tell ya
