I am not what you would call am Import fan but I respect all makes and models of all vehicles. I just purchased a few Civics and Accords for business and personal use. Talking to my dealer we have now ordered a Civic SI but some of the options have me wondering if they are worth the $$$ or not and if they are even going to look OK on the car. I have no money down and can change the order anytime I want. Even if the car comes in I can order a different one. ;)
Any preference of dealers to deal with in the Gwinnett/Walton/Barrow or Athens area?
For the azzhole bashers I currently own the following makes: Fords Mazda, Chevy, Dodge, Honda, Jeep, and a few other various models so don't think your Bias comments really matter 2 chits to me.
I am needing a little advice and that's all.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can give me their opinions on the options of this build. Anything I should leave off or add feel free to voice your opinion. Oh and the trunk tray is a necessity. :)
Thanks again!

my friend has an 07 si. I think he paid $21,000 or somewhere in that area, so I'd say they are worth it. he topped it out at 130 stock.

And that's it? I must say that you have proven your lengthy description and intelligence as about average as I expected.
As posted above I have not bought it yet so if you would of read the post you would realize that your reply was fairly ignorant. But thanks for your mature educated 1 line response.
And you think a ragged out Lexus would be a better choice?

I have test drive the new Civic and it feels good. A problem I had with it were the large 17" ( 18" in your case ) rims. I prefer a little more meat on my tires.
The other problem I had with it is the large and low angle front windshield.
Other than those, it was a pretty nice car. The color you are considering looks very good. I think you will enjoy the car performance wise, keep the options as they can be sometimes hard to get.
Just my $0.02 cents.

I would keep everything on your list except the half-nose mask (those will damage your paint more than they help), and I agree with the other guy... 18" rims are too big. 16" FTW IMO.

I would skip:
the wheels... they are uglier than the regular wheels IMO
the sport muffler.... Doesn't add any power... waste of 400 bucks
front nose guard, and moon roof visor.... ugly to me
ridgeracer's si is a perfect... all stock lip kit with a drop.

I have to say that I agree with almost everything said.
The wheels make sense and would probably make for a better ride with more rubber between the wheels and the asphalt.
The front 1/2 mask was a no no to begin with and I have had cars in the past that have had them and it literally ruined the paint.
The muffler was already on the list and believe it or not they came on my personal Accord (duals at that) and I probably paid 700-$800 for them as well and they look corny to me.
The moon roof guard looks gay and definitely takes away from the sleekness of the body lines.
The windshield I actually kinda like because I have always had steep flat ones so it is a neat change for me. The Civic that I just bought I noticed last night (first time I have drove it at night time) that the gauges glare reflect on the windshield and is very annoying.
What about the splash guards behind the front wheels?
Thanks on the comment about the color... I hope I like it as much as I think I will.

Hey are you gonna be at the Varsity meet by any chance? We are gonna try and make it to meet a few of you folks.
I promise not to drive the Civic even though it is a cutie. :D
I paid $18,400 out the door loaded with everything but the Navi. However we are speaking of the SI which has 200 hp and cost about 5k more. Still about the same thing but WTF are you gonna do when the fuel prices hit $5-$6 per gallon?

Before you can get an thorough analysis you'll have to tell us:
1) What you bought
2) How much you bought it for
3) Intentions Business/Personal, expected return, expected duration of ownership etc.
Or did you just want to get feedback on the civic for personal use you bought?
21k.... for 130hp......for a Civic.... bwahahahha
I bought a civic one with a blown enigne for $350. It was a 95 DX .... DX (POWER OPTIONS = NOT AVAILABLE)
They gave me all the paperwork, which later informed me that they paid 23,000 after everything.
Ouch!

Is this car for your business? If so or not and you're just buying it for an economic standpoint, then you're wasting money on getting all that factory accessories that make the car look like a Pep Boys model car. If it's for your company, then why do you need an 8-disc changer? Or half the other options in your list. Even if it's not for company and just to lower your gas prices some, you wouldn't need half the stuff you listed. I don't think Civics are a waste of money if you buy them for what they were intended on. And that's a dependable, economic ride from point A to point B. Later, QD.

OK I didn't realize how analytical some of you were gonna be on this and I apologize for the lack of information. I will gladly provide it now since I have a few that are interested in a mature debate/opinions.
I have a few Ford Focus 4 doors for economy purposes only but I have had a few problems with one already @ 60k. I really don't care to deal with this so I added a few of the LX Civics with a few luxury options to the fleet. These cars will all serve as economy/business smarts vehicles and that's all. One of these will be used as my DD 30-40% of the time.
The SI that I have coming to test drive/purchase is just for fun so it may see 1k-2k miles per year. I just thought they were "cute" and wanted to add one to the stables. I will be the one driving it 95% of the time that it will be driven and I like the cool gadgets. :)
QD this car is definitely a waste of money since it will never be driven but why work and not have any toys? I know it is probably a stupid thing to do but so was buying 1/2 the other crap I have sitting around and not being driven. Hopefully one day I will have time to play with some of the toys and not work so much. When this happens I would like one of these to be sitting here waiting on me. :)
I know... I'm an azzhat.

haha i appreciate it.
i'm glad you realize unlike some people on here that this is the whoreslounge and its all fun and games. Some people get a tampon so jammed up their salmon canyon.
I'm from Marietta and i go to South Carolina, but i'm actually transferring to UGA in the spring so i will be in Athens all the time, not to mention be there for some Football games in the fall, gonna be a good season hopefully.
I dunno if i'm really into the whole meets thing anymore though, too much rice. I've gotten a liking more so now for BMW's or Chevy's and Ford SUV's and Trucks.
dunno if i'd fit in with especially the latter 2 of those vehicles.

The Athens mall is 10 minutes from our house so let me know when ya get out this way maybe you can ride out to the shop and hang out a bit.
Actually you'd be fine with the Athens crowd. We take the Expedition 1/2 the time and you will meet some great people.
We are simmering down from the large SUV's and getting into the more economical vehicles.

but yea i'll get back to you on that when i transfer over in the spring, appreciate the offer.

you guys are silly. theres really no downside to any civic. you pay for the options you want and you still get the great gas mileage/reliability. if the rwd/fwd thing doesnt matter to you, then a civic is a great car and a very good choice if your looking for economy and reliability.
btw, bugman you want my shell? it still has alot of the interior (minus the dash) and suspension/subframes. LMK man im in need of some cash.

i agree with what jesse said.
but in all honesty bugman jokes aside, if you are only buying it to get 1-2k miles out of it a year then i don't see the point in buying it.
If i was gonna get that car it would be for the gas mileage and the good resale value, i would mule that thing around all day. Something like a show car that you want to preserve you would try and keep the miles off of

It's too much to spend on a daily. There are many options out there are get just as good gas mileage and are as fun to drive. Paying double digits for a civic? no thanks.

The SI will not be a daily but something to play with from time to time and keep for many years in "new" condition.

I wouldn't call it a future show car but that is pretty much what I am buying it for. It will not see many miles and I have several Focus and Civics to drive around for economy.

I think this is the first time I have ever heard of someone buying a civic Si as a toy. Are you going to modify it? These are great platforms to work on. Buy one all stock with no options and send it off somewhere for an R&D car for a turbo kit. They'll send it back with 400whp haha.
BUGMAN
06-03-2008, 10:33 PM
The only turbo kits that I have found with bolt ons and ported heads are only saying 280 hp at the tires and less. I am looking for a lot more than that or it won't be driven as much to be honest.
If you have other info please do share. I know very little about these cars so any ideas or help would be appreciated.
Yeah it is basically going to be a casual driving toy. Just want a little ump to go with it.
I did talk to a guy from the Honda place today and changed several of the options that were pointed out to me in this thread.
Thanks for the ideas and suggestions everyone!
