Dirty Oc's Del Sol hood v. groovin'

Okay, so it's not a picture of a car but a car's hood. :D

It's been a while since I've handled the can, so I went at it with DO's hood. The way it looks now, it makes me feel indifferent. I'm not in love with it. I feel, it lacks that punch. I'm not done with it, but wanted to get some feedback. When I was writing regularly, I did mostly letters--never characters or realistic subjects. So, this was a challenge for me. He's given me plenty of time, I just wish I had more of it. Life's been busy.

DO will have it by Sunday, though. :goodjob:

Yeah, I'm rusty. Detail takes a bit more time--considering the caps I have. I'm trying to get DO something presentable enough for Sunday. I'm teeter-tottering on the idea of getting an airbrush kit. Then, I can really get busy. :D

I just want to put this out there. When I had my civic hatch painted for an undisclosed amount of money, it looked good. --a nice gunmetal color. A month later, some idiot at work chips it with his door. I thought, forget this man. I'm not painting my daily driver some ungodly price just to have someone accidentally/intentionally bang it up.

Hence, for some reason, I think 300.00 paint jobs suffice for daily drivers. They are presentable--not immaculate. Now for a garage queen/full race/weekend car/track car. I would lay down nice paint.

For the time being, I dig creativity [but NICE] on street cars. One of the reasons why the corolla hasn't gotten a paint job yet, is 'cause I track the car. It is gonna get jacked up. I have come to the point where, I can't stand just havin' a car that's just hard-parked, day in and day out. Thank you. :D DO, carry on. :D

The RS's I got are 17x8 et20 all around, though.

I understand where you're coming from, though. Some cars are more versatile than others. Some things I would do to a ae86, I probably wouldn't do to an m3. Unless, I had 'deep pockets'. Maybe painting DO's hood will become more regular when he gets a spare. :yes:

i would TOTALLY understand the car as a whole looked like a big goof but it does not. the car is very wholesome and tasteful so adding some pizazz(sp) here and there can give the car some character as opposed to being a character (a very unfunny one). :thinking: if that made sense :dunno:

well IMO, im pretty on board with just about everything kash does and really appreciate his style in cars. every time he bounces an idea off me im always like... yessssssur, now i want to do it haha.

i know on my sol, i sharpie-d on the back of it... ok lemme say it again... i SHARPIE-D on the back of it. and i rock the **** out it... i LOVE it. now could you pull the same thing off on a new mustang or an evo or a beamer? -perhaps, but not as profoundly as a JDM-tyte honda. i believe the true essence of a "JDM style" vehicle or a japanese vehicle intended for street is based on creativity. probably 97% of the stuff that we all see as trite now was completely original and fresh a few years ago. idk... i am in disbelief that anyone could say that looks terrible.

1) it's not yours (often preached on IA)
2) who else has a piece of original eddie art on their vehicle??
3) DO is known for his uniqueness and pulls off a lot of things that most wouldn't with ease (brush ya shoulder off, kash)

Well DO..........................you've done it this time-lol. Ill admit the car has come a long way. In fact its a pretty nice car, that continues to get better and better. The octopus on the hood.......creative.......cool idea. And the work is good. Not great.....but definately showable imo. I think it would be hot if it were darker and looked mean. The light colors just make it look *****, and seems like it will look goofy on white. I guess pics on the car would help. Either way its come a long way and is looking good. Hope it works out.

The light colors just make it look *****, and seems like it will look goofy on white. I guess pics on the car would help. Either way its come a long way and is looking good. Hope it works out.

now, there's a thought. I wish I had more time to work on it. I initially wanted it to look intimidating. My shading faded a bit as I blended more colors in. But the idea of it being on a white hood. That's one thing I should have considered. It would look sick with a black border. This will have to wait for round 2--if there will be one. :goodjob:

yeah i'm an artist as well, just not with a can. never really tried it. i can't stand being rushed though, especially with my art. it'll get done when it gets done. :goodjob:

well IMO, im pretty on board with just about everything kash does and really appreciate his style in cars. every time he bounces an idea off me im always like... yessssssur, now i want to do it haha.

i know on my sol, i sharpie-d on the back of it... ok lemme say it again... i SHARPIE-D on the back of it. and i rock the **** out it... i LOVE it. now could you pull the same thing off on a new mustang or an evo or a beamer? -perhaps, but not as profoundly as a JDM-tyte honda. i believe the true essence of a "JDM style" vehicle or a japanese vehicle intended for street is based on creativity. probably 97% of the stuff that we all see as trite now was completely original and fresh a few years ago. idk... i am in disbelief that anyone could say that looks terrible.

1) it's not yours (often preached on IA)
2) who else has a piece of original eddie art on their vehicle??
3) DO is known for his uniqueness and pulls off a lot of things that most wouldn't with ease (brush ya shoulder off, kash)
4) sols are not your average car!! we do it diff'rent!

That's the thing though, your car does look good for what it is and that's why I think the hood's going to look awful on it and make the car look like a goof.

BBS wheels and spray painted octopus hoods just don't go together, IMO.
