Thats like a few dumb ass people I know who have a lease car and have done full turbo's on some, full body kits on others, etc.... Now thats fucking stupid to do on a lease car

my parents lease them because they use so few miles on them, they can trade it back in on a newer model of what they want and not loose alotta cash. If i didnt modify cars, id do the same.

here is the reason for leased cars, you always own a new car, it is pretty much always under warranty and even if it isnt its so new you dont have to deal with it breaking down. also once you are making a car payment alot of people just get used to making it so its no big deal to basically make a car payment forever...

oh and its a tax write off, 100% deductable..

I would have no issue with leasing, It allows you to afford much more car then what youd usally be able to get, and I have no issues making car payments, I have been making them since I was 18, have never had a paid off car, I always trade them in before its done for a new car, The civic will be the first car I have ever kept the full time and paid off, and thats paid for in November, But if I wasnt into modding cars, Id lease

yea well i only covered the positive side of it as far as a lease is conserned, there are alot of negatives, especially for those that want to modify their ride..

I'm almost at that point... I seem to buy a new car every 1.5/2 years, so instead of going through the hassle of selling a car everytime. I'm thinking about it, but if I am going to lease a car, it has to be $0 down. There is not many leases you can get without have no money down.

true but if you were disciplined enough you could set aside a little money each month for the down payment every couple years, effectively paying the same for a lease as you would for a purchase.

From a finacial stand point, leasing a car is stupid. Let me put it to you this way, what gradification do you get from making payments on a car you will never own? You are restricted to hell with the milage of the car. So you might get a new car every three years, but you are more than likely going to be in debt the rest of your life anyway, so what is the point.

i pointed out the rest of it in a previous post, and depending on the car and the business you are in it is very nice to have a 150,000+ dollar car that is a complete tax write off where as a purchased car is not a tax deduction. some people also take comfort in knowing they have a good car and dont have to worry about anything in terms of maintance short of changing oil and putting in gas.

for some peeps its cheaper depending on the car. you do not have to put a down payment and have like a $400 payment a month on like a 50g car

down fall is if you like tuning cars your fucked cuz you will lose all that money. If you fuck somethign up, you end up having to pay for it.

It really all depends on the type of person.

That aspect of it is fine, but for a typical consumer it really doesn't benefit anyone but the dealership. And as far as maintenance goes, most cars these days don't require any major tune up for at least 60k miles. And some cars have warranties that surpass that.

I wouldn't call it pretty narrow minded, but I grew up in a house with parents who worked for everything and became millionaires by the time they were 50. And I take everything my parents say to heart. And they always told me never to rent or lease anything. It is the biggest mistake you can make.

Warranty doesn't cover things that should have been done in normal maintance. if you dont change your oil in 60k miles they dont just give you a new motor, so that part of it is just a given expense of owning an auto. the flips side of it is when in a lease car you never go past the 60k warranty because it is due back before then, if you DO go past it you are fucked anyhow lol.

Leasing a car as said before is a tax write off if you own your own business. Also a lot of companies pay people x amount of dollars for a vehicle per month. Most companies that do this require you to lease a car in order to get that allowance.

Actually, I think that postulate is kind of simplistic. A more accurate one might be 'If it appreciates, buy it, if it depreciates, rent it'. Buying a car is a piss-poor investment, it will only depreciate and you will only lose money on it. Those that don't mind the expense of a constant car payment, and those who like to have new cars every 2-4 years (with all the benefits of being under warranty, etc.), and those who don't mind the mileage restrictions, can get quite a deal by leasing.

I'll always have one purchased car and one leased car. That way, mileage isn't an issue.
