240sx that has been gutted for drift.

i would learn to drift in it but i dont have the extra cash for tires.

no p/s

no ECU parts what-so-ever

and a vacuum leak thats preventing it from idiling properly.

and possibly a timing problem.

suggestions?

ill have pix soon

get free tires

drift away

Seriously... hit up your local tire store. It costs them money to get rid of tires, so they will usually give away worn tires that they have removed from cars.

but really, if you dont have the cash for tires and it isn't running...... i would venture to say the best idea would be to get it on the road.

ill check with my local tire store tomm thx.

and i dont really wanna be like everyone else.

in my opinion, which has no meaning, SR20's are too common.

IF i do anything motor-swap wise it will be a 2JZ or an RB26.

no selling, not till it pisses me off, i just bought it!

sorry, it is late and i am tired.

the thing that hit me funny was
1. you don't have cash for tires but want to do a 2j or rb26 swap?
2.you ruled out the sr because you want to be different yet you drive a 240.

so i apologize and will exit the thread.

There is a reason why there are a million SR20d 240s... It is a good motor for the car which has huge aftermarket support and isn't nearly as expensive as a 2JZ or RB swap.

fcuk it im just gonna get it right before i start investing money into it.
but if the price to get it right and the price of an SR swap are close, then its an SR. My buddy reminded me that 2jz's are a money pit.

reality and fantisy seem to tap into my budget at the same time.

don't do it....you can't even afford to clean it up and get it running well, let alone modding the car

240's are a BIG money pit, epically if you are wanting to mod it. Don't be stupid, and get into debt.

SixSquared

^^That they can be. Parts are cheap, but there's no way to slice the fact that the newest USDM 240 you're gonna find is now 11 years old, and yours is 20 years old. Personally I just kinda wait for stuff on my s13 to break, then replace it with something better lol. I bought my s14 wrecked for $900.. my idea was fix the front end for about $700 and have a running S14 for under $2k, which would have been a good idea...

... but then I found the KILLER deal on the s15 front conversion, and my "gotta have it" kicked in and I spent $2000 on the S15 conversion, bodykit, cf hood and trunk, and a 96 240sx SE parts car.

.... Then I realized that fixing the car was way out of my ability, so I took her up to Sprayglo Duluth. They hooked me up doing the conversion/body kit install/body smoothing, but that doesn't change the fact that I dropped another $2400 there.

... got her out of the bodyshop unpainted, drove her around for about 3 weeks, KABOOM the engine took a ****. My fault.. the water pump was bad, and it was kind of ridiculous of me to think that a car wrecked that badly in the front hadn't sustained some sort of accessory injury.

I wanted to be unique, too... LSx (corvette) motors were unique but expensive, 2JZ's cost about 10k just to get in and running, and that's a stock 2JZ. RB25 and RB26 are pricey, but also a nissan motor and have been done before. RB20 is just a retarded swap to do, everyone has an SR20.. hmmmmm...

I was rocking out with my friends to Ice Ice Baby (don't ask... inebriation does amazing things) and the idea came to me quite by accident. We were singing, and he said "Rollin.. in my 5.0 with my ragtop down so my hair can blow" and my friend Ben was like "BAHAHAHA You should so put a 5.0 in your 240. That would be cool as hell."

I agreed.

Spent another $1300 on a 1987 mustang GT with 62000 miles on it.

By now, my car had been down a really long time, and I needed a daily driver.

Spent $1200 on Lucy, my 1991 s13 hatchback.

While waiting for Killswitch to get the engine pulled, I came across an awesome deal on a pair of suede sparco milano seats... another $600 down the drain. Also bought wheels... another $900 in.

Killswitch hasn't even started to put together an estimate on doing the 5.0 swap, but between the swap, and the custom driveshaft, I'm probably gonna be in the $2000 range.

So long story short, my car doesn't even run right now and I have about $10k into it.

And the REALLY disgusting thing? If not for sponsors, I'd probably be in about $15k - $17k.

Moral of the story... it's easy to dump a LOT of money into these cars.

I like to think of myself as being different just to be different, but at the same time employing a better option. And to be honest, I don't know why there aren't more 5.0 swaps... 302's are a dime a dozen, they rev higher than LSx blocks, and for the money it would cost to buy a stock LSx, you can have a modded 302 putting out much more power.

I AM GOING TO START THE REVOLUTION haha

And LS2_kid: "An" RB26 is correct. The reason for the differentiation between "A" and "An" is that we like to have something to "break up" vowels... It is difficult to properly enunciate "a apple", for example, so we say "An apple". The general rule is that A precedes words beginning with consonants, while An is more proper for words beginning with vowels. However, when saying the letter "R", such as saying "RB26", the logic gets a bit screwed up. To spell the pronunciation of the letter "R", one would say it is "are", which starts with an A. Therefore, "An RB26" is technically correct.

Another delightful example of the contradiction found in the English language, which is what makes the English language the hardest to learn, so be grateful it is your native tongue. :D

You upset that your fat ass isn't open minded enough to do something different and not do something that has been done a million times over? Come on Rosebud, aren't you supposed to be some kind of graphic artist or something? Doesn't that involve originality? It's funny how you praise my car and PM with others for sale but when you get bashed on, all of a sudden, you're bashing what I'm doing.

So what are you going to do next when your springs and struts give out from attempting to support you and all four of your udders? I drive a 18 wheeler designed to haul up to 80,000lbs. I merely see a trend in every picture of one of your cars that I've seen... heated springs, spray painted wheels. Feel free to prove me wrong, but I just go by what I see.

And I merely PMed you that link because I was trying to help you.. you know... be nice... I know it's a novel concept for you, but I know what a pain in the ass it is to put together old cars, and know that you can never have too many spare parts. I was looking around on CL and saw that, and knew that you drive one because you brag about the damn thing all the time, and thought I would be nice and shoot you the link.

I do, however, find it equally entertaining that when you PMed me back, you graciously thanked me for the link and the thought, but now that you're in "public land" you feel a need to be hateful. What, don't want people to know that you can be nice to the fat chick? Or are you scared that will ruin your e-thug rep?

Either way, I don't really care. Tease me about my weight all you want.. trust me.. it's never affected me in the past, it doesn't affect me now. And hey, if something as superficial and obvious as my weight is the only thing you can find to pick at me for, then I think I'm ahead of the game. I'll take being the token IA fat chick over being the token IA skinny psycho whore. But I think we both know who that title belongs to.

Ok here we go.

There are plenty of reasons to pick you other than your weight.

- your presence in general is offensive

- you have no taste in cars whatsoever

- you talk about originality and making this baller S14
a. then you buy some cheap ebay wheels that are black with a polished
lip. That is the most obvious, dumb wheel choices ever.
b. you do one of the dumbest swaps in 240 history. A 5.0? Really? I'd
rather have a KA-T than that POS.

I can go on with reasons to dislike you.

I do, however, find it equally entertaining that when you PMed me back, you graciously thanked me for the link and the thought, but now that you're in "public land" you feel a need to be hateful. What, don't want people to know that you can be nice to the fat chick? Or are you scared that will ruin your e-thug rep?

When you're nice to me, I'll be nice to you. I see major dumbassedry, I'll comment. You know that. I made one comment about your "sponsor" and you mustered (mustEred not mustArd) up some gibberish to defame me. E-Thug rep? Who cares about that. Only the people, such as you, give me that label.

You do care or you wouldn't take the time to jot down 3, 4 or maybe 5 paragraph posts in an attempt to bring me down to size. And I'd rather you be the IA fat ass because that's not something I'd want to "lug" around with me for my life. And yes we do both know who the latter title belongs to. But she gets banned every weekend so it's no use belittling someone who isn't here. You're just one in herd on many levels. Later, QD.

Dudeguy88, just get the car running first. Find the vacuum leak and replace the hose. Fix the misc. problems the car has before trying to drive it. Since you don't have a lot of money, why not boost the KA24E that is in your car? Its pretty cheap to put together your own turbo setup if you read up on the subject and find parts. Plus if you manage to blow it up, the KAs are dirt cheap to replace.

1. I hate people like you who won't do something cause "it's too common". Maybe there is a reason why it is common?

^^Not the worst thing in the world. I wanted a del Sol since 6th grade. Then in 7th grade my dad bought one for my mom. Fun times ever since. Some people just like to keep their dreams realistic lol.

Easy....get 2 gallons of gas.....spread alllll over the car. Make sure u soak the inside. Box of matches, light the box, toss in the car, walk away. Done.
