ok for those of you that have sent me a pm when my inbox was full sorry but i have replied to most if not all here is the idea i have.
I want to have a friendly little competiton between all of us to bring us closer together or just meet some ppl that you wouldnt see on the regular. Basically i want to do a single or double elimination tournament of some runs. Since we have some members that are boosted and some on the bottle and others who are all motor i figured we could do a winner for all motor this includes bolt ons and a winner for forced induction this includes turbo, nitrous i would say sc but i only know of one member that has that.
basically what i want is for you to post the following
car type
motor
and type in this section you would put either all motor or forced induction
and your location
all runs will be in a stictly pm only format for obvious reasons
to make this fair and fun i would say we can do a best out of 3 for each run you and the person you are running against can decide that
ex. one from a dig
one from a 25-30 roll
one from a 45-50 roll
i would suggest you have a camera car or a person in your car to film this we can make a seperate thread just for these videos along with some comments about the run.
im not great with power point so someone who is after all the names are gathered can make us a bracket style spreadsheet so we can see the standings.
for the guys in columbus and dahlongea we really want to include you guys thats why i want all runs to be done on weekends as that works best for most ppl i think im willing to drive to meet ppl i have been to both dahlongea and columbus many times as well as augusta.
gas is high as hell so if you make arrangements to run someone please show up or exchange numbers for all the atlanta guys i know numberous spots to get this done im sure kevin knows even more.
One idea is to make a small meet of it one weekend and knock out a bunch of runs all in one night. if you have any suggestions please post up i think this would be fun event. Hell who knows we could take the top 3 or so and challenge the other squads here on ia just for fun.

Let's make this easy. Kevin wins because I'm not around and nobody else has the power to keep up with him if he sprays.

But anyway, why don't you guys arrange a meet at the drag strip on a test and tune day. Then there can be no excuses.

Honestly, I wasn't going to post in this thread and let you guys do whatever, but the more I think about it, the more I think JDMJAY's idea is really, really, really bad.
Here's the thing....Street racing, no matter how or where it's done is the most moronic thing one can do behind the wheel of a car.
You guys that want to line up against each other to see who's the fastest...take it Commerce where there are safety crews on deck if something goes wrong.
Can't make it to the strip with any of the other guys? Well, go when you can and post your ETs.
Make no mistake, I have no problem with friendly competition. But, please, for the love of God, yourselves, and innocent drivers just trying to go home from work/school/friend's houses/or where ever, keep the racing where it belongs...on a track.

+34 for this post. I had no idea this group was about this kind of activity. Disappointing to say the least. Well one of the last of the good clubs has just fallen. And I don't have to mention what I hope happens if this goes through. Damn this sucks. Later, QD.

Thread Fail LOL
I like the idea of taking it to the track, but every time I suggest it no one is interested. Some is always bitching about distance or gas. I agree, you are always putting yourself (and others) in danger when doing it.
Green91, what's wrong with b16s racing. Wasn't Iroc interesting. LOL
I got a question. Why doesn't mountain run threads get the same response? I see mountain runs being just as dangerous (if not more) as street racing. Not like people go to the mountains to cruise. They go there to push the limits of their cars. Also, many people drive reckless as hell up knowing the the slightest **** up and their car is wrapped around a tree. Plus, vision can be limited in some areas too. Just a thought.

Excellent point. The difference is that seldom is a mountain run taken as a competition. So, the perceived stakes are much lower and drivers aren't as prone to succumbing to the "red mist" that can occur when racing (whether it's on track or on the street). I think it's the desire to win that pushed street racing to point where drivers begin making really, really bad decisions that compromise everyone's safety.

you guys made some good points about the track...thats where you should really do everything
but i would race on the street if there is a big group of people, 1 cop cant catch 50 cars lol
those that are stupid, should just stay at home and drive a mini van, maybe they would be smart enough to realize their driving a mini van, most of the time the dumb kids think they have a race car on the street just because they have a motor swap or some ****.

I agree with most of what you said these races well atleast mine would not take place on a "road" where cars are everytime ive been somewhere to watch or take place its been at a old warehouse or trucking yard if you can drive your car hwy speeds in a empty parking lot youve got problems.
I in no part reflect this "squad" i am a single person if you didnt like the idea fine thats cool dont post that you want to be down simple as that. If you want to make a track day then lets do that.
ppl like T2KU that stick to there guns and stay on one side of the bandwagon my hat goes off to you sir +2 when i can sir for the others that jump sides when "other members" says its not cool i say stand on your own 2
no beef with anyone on here just keeping it real
now as far as the mountain run comment speedsix made i dont really know you too well but if you search back to the mountain run threads or meets that we had on here i could have sworn ppl were saying oh yeah im gonna spank your ass in the mountains! I was there in my d series still dual point at the time and i could barely keep up EVERYONE was speeding and going around cars in a one lane road on a damn mountain!! Somehow i think a 1 or 2 min race at a old warehouse seems safer i mean thats just me:2cents:

i'm not jumping on either side. i wouldn't be down for any stupid ass drag race on busy streets. i dont think many people would actually be down for that. but @ an empty parking lot or something, idk i'd have to scope out the situation and take it from there.
i just want a shot @ jermaine in his b16, thats all. i say commerce on friday would be a good little meet for us all to go and see who's quickest.

preciate it J
Like I said I'm down for either one. The track is always fun but the streets and the track are 2 totally different ballgames. Times don't always add up on the street. Most "set up" street races I've seen happen at 1-3am when there is no one else on the road anyway so it would be the drivers would be in danger, but that is their choice so they suffer the consiquences if somethin happens.
All in all everyone street races, be it light to light or pulls on the highway when you just pull up next to someone
I respect anyone that doesn't want to do it tho and it should be a group decision as to what we do

this is why even though i probably spend atleast as much time in the mountains as anyone on here does, you wont catch me on an IA run. to many stupid people making bad decisions. its not a race. its possible to have a nice mountain cruise and enjoy your car.. it isnt possible to race someone else and not be balls out or lose.
if you go on a mountain run with a responsible group of people its nothing like youve described..
no beef with anyone on here just keeping it real

the mountain runs we've been on in the past were in no way an all out race, but weren't a "sunday drive" either. basically you just gotta find that happy medium.

That really isn't the point. I don't really care where an unsanctioned race takes place, things can still happen and end very badly. Parts break, drivers make mistakes, etc. If you keep it on the track, when the something happens you have an emergency vehicles standing by.
Mountain runs are such a different ball game that the two don't compare. Can things get bad on a moutnain run, sure. I passed a VW Jetta on it's lid at Deal's Gap, or The Tail of the Dragon. Any comments made here about anyone spankning someone else in the mountains were good natured ribbing rather than a call to race. BTW, I was on the last mountain run the squad went on, too.

05-29-2008, 01:41 AM
yea, so you know how it is on a mountain run. defanitly not an all out race, but guys are out there pushing it.
but still, jermaine is just saying that they both put people in danger. flying around a 20 mph turn @ 40+ mph mixed with tiny roads is defanitly dangerous.
bottom line is that there are alot of people who push the limits on the streets and put themselves and other people in danger, it's just the degree of danger seems to be what is up for debate here...

I don't see any point in arguing about this, meet up at the track. That way you'll have time slips, and you won't have to do any drawn-out lengthy pyramid. Best time wins, no arguments.
