Hey guys whats up. I was just checking in here and seeing what was going on. I finally got back into an EF when i picked up my crx a week ago. I'm not new to IA but i haven't been in this forum before so i figured i would introduce myself and my car.
Name is Austin, i know Mike (whiteboycrx) and Bruce (onebadxj) already but really thats probably it. May have met some of you at the oakwood/gainesville meets im sure. I have owned a lot of Honda's over time, but have been on the hunt for the right crx for probably 8 months now.
Picked up a 1990 HF last week and it was well worth the wait. I practically stole the car since the owner had it for 10 years and parked it the last year and a half when he bought a newer prelude.
I don't have any pictures yet, but its jsut faded red and it has 14x6.5 basket weaves from an E30 325is. 305,000 miles and it still purs and shifts like butter. Before the guy parked it the car got: New clutch (three months of use before parked), newer metal top radiator and everything works (and to my disbelief, the AC [[only option on the car lol]] Still Blows Cold. Oh and the windsheild was replaced before so its not 18 years old :D
Once i sell my s13 bomber i've been daily driving while on the hunt, the car is getting suspension/tires and some other stuff. Motor staying in it for now because i like getting 40+ miles per gallon and it runs too quiet to waste it.
I do need a couple parts so while im rambling, anybody got em?...
-Drivers side Mirror
-Corner lights (they are cracked, more of want than a need)
-Drivers fender (it has a very nice fender... from an 88 lol. Doesn't seem to fit right/corner light on that side won't go in.
Look forward to meeting some of you guys, keep an eye out and i'll post some pictures in this thread. Also hopefully starting next week I should be ordering suspension.
Until then, i suppose this is the beginning of: The Saga of the $60 CRX.

Make sure you keep that motor in there!!! hehehehehehehe
With a major tuneup you should see an increase mpg. As for the fender, they are the same, just change the corner light clips to 90-91 style (goto honda and get them). Get the corner lights from ebay and mirror from pull-a-part (or the scotsman might have one).

That is awesome mike! Mine are both cracked and broken up lol. And that mirror would be a huge help.

Dude i would love to, but i'll be in north carolina working the 600 race!
I just took the window out, and figured out that one of my window clips was in fact broken, and the window regulator is bent. Got to take the regulator out and "persuade" it to be straight again lol.
Thanks to the link bigdare posted above, I just found what i needed after some searching. Looks like they don't sell the clips alone and the window is 100 bucks.. Hopefully my buddy still has his parts car so i can get that window from him.
I remember why i got another rex. So simple and easy. I've missed them!

Will be working most of all day tomorrow, but Friday should get some pics up (lame i know!).
I've kind of decided tonight that since the car is going to get me through school, and i have my rx7 to build as my drift/autox/race machine, this car is going to be built ballin' on a budget style. It should handle good/look good/ run great for overall about $1,000 - $1200 invested (this includes the purchase of teh car, the $150 wheels on it, tires... etc etc Everything). Then i can decide if I want to change stuff later down the road once my rx7 gets more complete. I'll take pictures and have receipts haha.

Car - $60
Wheels/tires - Baja! $150 (the tires are too big, but they have life left so im gonna ride them out lol. Will fix)
Oil change - like $12
Charge Battery - Free.
Bleed brakes - Free
So not bad for like $220 invested so far. The AC still works and its cold  .
Coming soon:
Gr2's and megan springs (stock **** is worn out... 306xxx miles..)
Rear sway bar - i think ST haven't decided...
Yeah its coming along. I still need a drivers side window (mine came with a broken clip, no worky!) And mirror. But its a damn good start.
I'm going to try and build the car for less than $1k with tires, some suspension, and cleaing it up/fixing the small stuff....
This baby is gonna get me through college, and be a fun ass daily driver.
More updates to come.

So daily driving i decided to go back to 13's. But i couldn't bare to put steelies back on it.
So i picked these up from my old work. 13x5.5s off an old bmw 2002. They sit kind of crazy flush which is cool (the offset is +18). I bought some brand new 175/70/13's for it yesterday, came home and put them on. It seriously feels like i put power steering on the car since those other wheels had 205/60/14s on it (too big haha). I'm expecting to pick up at least 5mpg, and i had 10 miles on a new tank of gas when i put them on so i will see after this tank is out.
Couple snaps. (sorry the pics are a little bigger than i'd like them to be but oh well)

Now if i could just find some used lowerign springs to put on with my new struts, things would be cherry.

Those wheels are badass! I'd love to have a set. If you ever get rid of them let me know, I actually have the 2002 for them to go on! lol

^^ You don't have an '02, you have a 1600. :P
Those wheels were original equipment on the sport package 320is.

True, it's just easier to say 2002 because alot of people didn't know there was a 1600 lol. 1602 in my case.

Looks like you've got some positive camber in the front?

Hahah yeah man i love them. So small, but look SOOOOO Much better than steelies. I have the 14" versions off a 325is too, but they need new tires and are going to be mountain/autocross only, rockin' like some rt615's or something. Matching sets of rims ftw!

Now that i think about it, you are right. Damn that's bad seeing as how i worked at SG for several months lol.

Yeah lol. Somebody bought it for him when the other one got hit by a deer (also why my mirror is missing). It was wrong but he felt obligated to put it on. LoL.
Oh and I looked at the picture again. It does look like it has positive camber in the pictures, and truthfully i could. BUT, it looks worse in the picture from the driveway. On level ground, it loos like i have either '0' or '+1' exactly lol. When i put springs on it that will be corrected a little and the wheels should be flush with the low offsets.
I put new pads and rotors on it today. Damn the old ones were Shhhiiittay lol.... Car stops great now, and the pedal doesn't have to be pumped!.

Suppose more updates to come soon. I got to find some springs so i can install the new struts. Getting a new mirror next week (Thanks to TheScotsman). Slowly but surely....

I would get to an alignment shop and get a print-out of your specs, you shouldn't have positive camber. Something is wrong if you do.

This i know. I don't think i do. It just looks like it from the angle and the driveway. It's more the offsets of the rims, NOT the alignment. Trust me if it really seemed like i did have positive camber it would have already been put on the rack. Which it will be anyway soon since i will hopefully be getting lowering springs.
are those black ones konigs?Naw, they are 14" basket weaves from a bmw 325is (e30)

Yeah thanks man, After what seemed like forever, all i could find were ragged out rex's for like a grand, it was killing me lol. Thise one just fell in my lap.
I'm through just over half a tank of gas and going back to the 13's made a really big jump in gas mileage. Now to fix the vacuum leaks... lol

Now to fix the vacuum leaks... lol
Make sure to check your EGR valve, I changed all the vacuum lines on my old hf motor only to find out it was the EGR valve. :D Just a heads up ;) .

06-25-2008, 06:29 PM
Thanks for the heads up Mike. I will probably go ahead and change that too... 308,000 miles and it's probably never been changed lol.
Anyone wanna chime in on why my brakes are acting up? The new pads/rotors feel WORLDS better than the old ones, but i still have one problem. If i'm sitting on a hill or riding the brakes for extended periods of time tehy slowly sink to the floor. I can simply let up and get back on them since it's not neary as bad as before, but what is it?
Maybe a leaking slave/master?

Can you pump it back up hard?

06-25-2008, 07:11 PM
You have either a bad master cylinder, bad wheel cylinder, bad brake line or bad caliper. If you have a leak it will be obvious, fix it and you should fix the sinking pedal problem. If there is no visible leak or loss of fluid, it's most likely the master cylinder.

Yea I just haven't really taken a flashlight or a jack and looked for it. Thanks for the insight on what it should be.
