The family of a boy who suffered brain damage after he was struck by a line drive off an aluminum baseball bat sued the bat's maker and others on Monday, saying they should have known it was dangerous. OMG you can be injured playing sports?! I f*cking hate people.

If they win that lawsuit that will be ridiculous...

Some people have no money to pay for medical fee's and resort to suing.

True, but the family is going after everyone who is slightly related to the sale of the bat - Sports Authority, Little League Baseball, and the makers of the bat.

Thats why you sign a release form when you play little league.

uhm... since they entered the kid into the little league, I think that qualifies as assumption of risk... so I doubt they will win anything, although they may get a settlement...

this argument has been going on forever and a day, i played ball through 18 about 9 months out of the year after i turned 13....now my son is playing, and the league we play in makes pitchers wear a chest protector. ive seen people hit in the face with line drives, the chest, legs, arms, etc, saw a guy get his cheek shattered from a line drive, it comes with the game, metal bats have always been a hot topic, my thing though is if you think its not safe enough to play then you shouldnt let your kids play, the responsibility soley lies on the shoulder of the parents, my son knows the chances and we have made the decision together
