:D I just got a trade for my 1989 fox body mustang and got this 1997 Civic Ex. It has the d16y7 bottom with the d16y8 vtec head:goodjob: , I believe they call this the minni me swap. I just put the head on today . I did some up grades sence the last time I was on here . It has a d16y8 tranny, and all of the other y8 stuff. I am about to boost i t with 7 psi for now until i do the pistons, and rods? I will post more pictures of the car later.:bump: It has 156+ on the body and 93,+++ on the engine and head has 70... I also put a skunk2 exhaust with skunk2 cam gear that's it.http://pictures.sprintpcs.com//mmps/RECIPIENT/000_2672616d96d4b5df_1/2?inviteToken=xENrJ28AYY5LVaVYkL3a&limitsize=258,258&outquality=90&squareoutput=255,255,255&ext=.jpg&iconifyVideo=true&wm=1

Seems like the car should have a Y8 motor and a Y8 Tranny ... I'd boost it then! :goodjob:

Looks like a pretty clean car just need to get a different set of rims and a drop. And on the engine part, fix that Ls motor and get you a vtec head and throw that in there.

Not bad. Lower it a little and it will look a lot better. BTW your reps are in the green now thanks to the +reps I gave you. :lmao:

They are 17" and to those people givig good comments, big up to yall. I knew trading for the stang was a good idea. I looked yesterday and found out it does have the y8 tranny in it. I should have known that from it being a Ex Civic. Yea it did have a y8 motor, but the dude i got it from took this motor from his girls car when it got wrecked, put the d16y7 block and started to make a MinniMe Monster.

Bad idea. If your going to go Ls-vtec it take alot more than that to do it reliably.

nice ride, you have a lot of options. me personally, i would rather attempt to fx the ls then boost it, i hear ls/vtec setups are a lot of work too

I don't have the head on it yet because I have to get help from my friends to put it on, and my engine light is on because of this:( . I don't know much about the honda engine because I've always had american cars. It's all stock besides the lights I have on the back. Give me some comments on it and let me know what you think I should do. It has a d16y8 tranny, should I boost it? I will post more pictures of the car later.:bump: It has 156+ on the body and 93,+++ on the engine

uhm... what???

Nice trade man. It definately sits too high. I would also try to fix that ls motor and put it in there. K20 is also not a bad idea. I have the 02 Si and I like my K20. I just need to get the drop done and some wheels.

What you need to do is find your self a good Y8 block, and swap it out with that Y7.
If you dont rag your motor, that Y7 might still last a lil, see a minime is anything but a monster, mostly a waste of labor, I think.

Get that thing back to stock drive train, A nice cold air intake, stock exhaust, and some HK lowering springs, and enjoy the fact that you have a gas saver thats not too uber slow.

Gas prices are about to hit the fan, and and your gonna love the fact that with a y8 you can get 30mpg on the highway.

My bad about the color, a k20 sounnds good I was thinking about something like that, arn't they like 2,500 just for the motor. I was thinking about just changing the springs on it and maybe trading the ls motor for some parts. I was told, it's a 99 integra ls motor with less than 100k on it. I don't want it. I just want to stick with the sohc for now. Thanx for all the positive feed back.

uhm... what???
it's throwing the engine light because of this code p1259 for the vtec connection.

Yeah you can't just swap on a VTEC head and poof! You have VTEC. You have to run oil squirters for the head, do the proper wiring for VTEC to make sure it's engaging at the proper points... it's a PITA. I know Golden Eagle makes an LS/VTEC kit, but I dunno if they have anything for an SOHC application.

You can probably trade the LS motor for some springs, but if your suspension is stock (which is looks like it is), you don't want to put just springs on stock struts... that's asking for blown struts, and not being able to do any kind of camber adjustment is going to eat tires like a mofo. I would wait on dropping it until you are able to afford either full coilovers or springs, struts, and a camber kit.

Looks like a fun project, though. :)
