other than just basic....er-- semi-basic maintenence of the engine/valve train?

would it be good for a bit more power if it so happens that the motor you do the adjustment on probably hasnt had one since it was manufactured? ......in 1990?:D

If they are way out of adjustment, it will perform better because the valves will open to their designed specs.

so its basically not like a guaranteed performance gain, but only a gain if my junk was really messed up before...:boobies:

Lol yea car runs harder with them ticking but less reliable. When I did my valves the first time they were opened up at like .8 or somthing.Cant remember and my cams were 180 degrees in reverse. It pulled hard tho but after valve adjustment and timing redone. It still ran strong but not like it did all wacked up

Also, If the valve lash is too large, you will put excess stress on the cam faces (if Overhead Cam), or on the rocker arms in Pushrod. I generally check valve clearance every 15000 miles.

yea it is adjustment of your valves......
Step-by-Step:
1. Tie a wire to ur left and right nipple
2. Stick the other end in a electric outlet
3. Your valves have been adjusted. :bump:

just don't tighten them up too much or you will have a big mess on your hands.

lol, so sue me, i didnt know what he was saying when his engine was "all whacked up", cuz to me when something is whacked up it means :jerkit: :lmfao:

Plus, im just gonna follow these directions to a "T" when i do it...only ill use the b18a spec instead of the b18c spec, if they're any different...

i dont see how you will gain power if your valve adjustment is off. thats just me tho.

yea i always thought so too! i would nvr use the valve adjustment to gain 1hp;) running loose gives you more torque but less power, while running tight means giving up torque to gain a little power. You can’t hurt much going a little tighter, though you’ll give up idle smoothness, but if you go too loose, you’ll start breaking parts!!!!! not reccomended by me and my fellow tuners:goodjob:

Well see, the thing is im not planning to get "more power" from doing the valve adjustment. Im only planning on having the engine run the way its supposed to run based on Factory spec... and if it happens to gain more power from runnin like that, then great! if not, then oh well.
