View Full Version : General Chat Drove a GTI Today

So as part of my training for my new job we had to go and fake buying a car at another lot today. Since I'm in the market for a new car in the next 6-8 months or so. Ended up going to the VW dealership down the road and drove a GTI. Having driven the old version I have to say this is a great improvement. The power is just so smooth coming on and the stiffness of the suspension is perfect. My biggest complaint about the car was the clutch. It's just too soft. When I got back into my car the clutch felt so stiff it wasn't funny. Anyways overall I think it's a great car but for 27k  I'd have to sleep on it.

they had a demo r32 that they are selling for the same price. If I had the money I'd get the R32 today but it's gonna take me about 6-8 months to save up the dough necessary for me to get whatever I want.

It's just over 3k. All options its probably 3.1k. That thing is ugly as hell though. Love the interior, love the engine, can't stand the styling.

Haven't we been over this? you aren't allowed to ruin any vw/audi's, stick to the 3g's and scions.

lol at you trying to tell me what to do with my money. I think that If I'm spending 25-30k of my money I would hardly ruin my car. But you know me oh so well  :gay: .

I don't know you oh so well, but have seen the lame **** you have done to your cars thus far, so I think I have a good idea of what is to come.

So you are planning on making like 17k in these next months?

The clutch issue seems to be one of the common gripes on some new cars.

Yea but I drove a new mini just for the hell of it later in the day and it was fine.

 HMMM ok. My tC was stock body lowered on rims. That's lame how? The Eclipse yea I'll agree with you but I never planned on staying in this car long that's why I've decided not to lower it or put anymore money into it other than maintenance.

As far as my money goes. I see 25k taking no more than a year but most likely about 8 months and I will be working while I'm at school as the manager has already let me in on a secret :ninja: :goodjob:

Correct me if im wrong, but didn't Kyle drive a stock Golf? Kyle, you don't like the styling of the car anyways, so what difference does it make on his choice of mods. :2cents:

I like mine. :)

and to each their own in styling department...i like the styling...the MKIV looks too much like a teutonic box IMO...lol

the motor is phenomenal...i dynoed 195 whp and 198 torque stock...chip gets u an additional 25-30 whp and 60-90 lb/ft of torque.

Nope. It's a gti and the car isn't stock. You can see next year when I post pics.

Regardless of the cars styling, I'd hate to see a vw ruined or have any ties to redGT(i.e. driving the same type of car)

Dude you have to be the biggest prick on IA man. Tell me how I ruined this car. The only car I ever even started to actually put any REAL effort towards.

Regardless of what you say or think I'll be damned if I let some little e-thug dictate to me what the hell I can spend my money on. If you don't like me driving a VW by all means sell yours.

Lol. That car was ruined from the factory, you didn't have to do anything.

e-thug? I like messing with people in general, but I really do think you are a tool. And if you want to test my e-thug go ahead.

Hahaha. Well you just got a new gti, I'd be happy with that for a while. Get an intake to entertain you until you can get bigger things. Also where have you been? I never see you at the v anymore.

Hrm. Why not do engine mods before the chip so you get the most out of it? But the plans sound good, I wouldn't touch the body of the car.

Tring to rip you off then. BTW if going to a large dealer to purchase a new car, end of the month is the best time. If you got the time and patience to haggle with them you can knock off more then a few grand off the price.

Not necessarily, thats why its called a stereotype. I have however, met a good number of VW owners that are real douchebags. Of course, I've also met several friendly ones as well, like my friend I bought the Mk3 from.

Agreed. They get desperate to make deals at the end of the month. Go to gossett(as much as I hate them), they seem to go through sales people faster than any dealership, I've had some very desperate sales people trying to make deals with me.
