swapped the ground on the head unit and that eliminated all the noise when the key is in II position. its perfectly clear now. but when i turn it to III i get some static. so lame. i tried ground loop isolators, but that didnt help. this is with the engine off btw, only the key is in the III spot

i have not started the car yet, but whenever the sytem is on, i have battery cables hooked up to a running car.

i work at circuit city and this happened to me it ended up the amp was bad after i put 200$ rcas and those that ground loop bull**** but i just noticed you had a pioneer radio put a ground wire to the radio housing (cage) it might fix it

You have your non-running car hooded up to a running car's battery??????????

I figure this is only for "testing" purposes while you are building...right? I suspect that mihgt be worth looking into...try running the stereo without the other car running...just use jumper cables for 10-20 seconds. See if THAT makes a difference.

will try tomorrow. and yeah its just for testing stuff. i already have the pioneer radio grounded directly to the chassis and have the battery grounded twice. the noise is proportional to the amount of gain i turn up. i dont think its the amp since it works perfect and sounds great with the key at II.
