Why?

I really don't think this is going to stimulate the economy to much due to the fact food cost has gone up, and gas is still a bish. Spending wisely is the best bet.

Spending wisely is the best bet.Would chopping it off my credit card be considered wise spending?

hondachik
05-09-2008, 10:31 AM
Why?

Because you have your money. I did direct deposit but it was a RAL through H & R Block...so now I have to wait on a paper check.

That $900 today would have helped on my down payment towards my next car though. .

I kid, I don't hate you. I'm just a hater.

Hmm....credit cards. Clark Howard says "Don't use credit cards. Use cash to help reduce your amount of debt. And if you owe on credit cards do not close out the account because it will look bad on your credit. Also once the balance is 0, use it twice a year and buy a candy bar. That way it look like your using your credit and keep your credit file in good standing."

well yousef told me that he did as well and he heard or read something about TurboTax deleting an account and so the IRS isn't recognizing that or something and they are sending everyone who used TurboTax there check via mail...which means we won't see ours till June. But I need mine NOW so..yeah I'm really hoping that its not true.

What if I paid to file my 2007 taxes with my refund money using Santa Barbara Bank & Trust?
Even if you have received or will receive your tax refund by direct deposit to your bank account, the IRS will not do the same for your tax rebate in this instance. It will mail your rebate instead.

In its preparations for issuing rebates, the IRS decided that taxpayers who entered into financial transactions with third parties, such as Santa Barbara Bank & Trust (the taxpayer and TurboTax being the first two parties), would receive their rebates by mail.

This applies only to TurboTax customers who used the "refund transfer" or RT service when filing their 2007 tax returns. The service lets you pay for your tax preparation and/or e-filing from your refund proceeds, for an additional fee, under an agreement with the bank. This allows customers to pay using their refunds, rather than credit cards.

This IRS decision also applies to taxpayers who used "refund anticipation loans" or RALs (loans made to tax filers against their expected refunds) on their 2007 returns. TurboTax does not offer RALs. :gay:

its only if you paid for turbo tax by deducting the price from your refund, rather than paying for it seperately, ie by credit card. this is BS. Meh.

Nope.. everyone I know used TT and got their money via DD. The only way you'll get a check is if you requested TT's filing fee (20 odd bucks) to be cut from your tax refund.

Anyhow, dunno what to do with the money.. I guess a repaint @ Sprayglo for my Miata seems like the best option right now.

Shouldn't matter if you pay TT's filing fee via credit cards. I still prefer TT for ease of use.. just a personal observation.

I can't remember which I did. I wanna say I had them deducted. It just pisses me off that when I actually need money, and its SUPPOSED to be coming...they decide to make you wait a month. great...

Thursday, 5/1/08 UPDATE: Important alert for H&R Block Filers:

According to H&R Block's website, if you received your tax refund on an Emerald Debit Card, your Rebate will be loaded on your Emerald card too.

However, if you used a Refund Anticipation Loan or used the H&R Block Bank in any way, you will have to wait for a paper check in the mail.

Many H&R Block filers tell me they were anticpating a Direct Deposit, but have now been informed they will have to wait for a paper check. See the dates below.F*ck

Ummmm.. check your credit card statement? Or check your bank account statement for the tax refund received and compare it with the value on your 1040. How difficult is that? :)

It would be a little more fair if EVERYONE was going to get one of these checks. I'm not. I guess it could be because the government punishes those who work for a living and actually pay taxes. The republicans wanted to make it $600 per person across the board, but as usual, those dumbass democrats always want to play robin hood... taking money from the "rich" (aka middle class in most cases) and giving to the "poor" (those who are too lazy to work and live off the government).

To everyone who works hard and earned the $600, enjoy it. Stimulate the economy. Go buy a couple 55 gallon barrels of gas before it hits $5/gal. :goodjob:

To everyone who sits at home all day and waits for the 1st and 15th to come around so the government (aka me and the rest of the taxpayers) can pay your bills: You suck at life... kill yourself. Quit looking for handouts and get a job. :2up:
