View Full Version : Window tint??

I was just wondering what the best looking, but most practical window tint would be. I was thinking around 32% due to the fact that I want to be able to see out of my windows at night...I still think 20% would probably be too dark, I really have little knowledge with window tinting, so any advice would be appreciated. Do you guys think this would be the darkest I could go, while still being really functional?

Thanks

ermm it's illegal to do 20% in the front. the lower the percentage is, the darker the tint is. so 20% means only 20% of the sunlight is allowed to pass the tint. something like that. it's fairly legal to go 35% in the front...and 20's all around in the back. just as long as your FRONT are 20 you wont get pulled over unless it's a hard diick coming your way. =P
... cant bash anymore than wat the rest did so i give you useful info. =P

Be gangsta like me and get 5%. I see fine with it in the daytime and at night because at night people (hopefully) have their headlights on so you can still see oncoming cars and what not.

When they put 20% on your windows depending on the film it will come out as anywere from 12%-20% cause they can put that gauge on your clear glass and it will come out like 80%-99% . Which really doesn't matter cause 20% is ilegal anyway... If your worried about it just get the 32% or higher and do the back windows one shade darker thats what I always do... LMK if u need pricing:goodjob:

So if you get illegal all the way around with the exception of the front and in the front you have legal is that legal?

Mine's 8% all around except for windshield- hard to see at night when it's raining bc u can't roll the windows down to see out the back. I can't even see my reverse lights light up anything. But it is really good for the leather.....

and yea i think if everything but the front windows are illegal.. the whole thing is still legal.... at least that's what i've been told.

and if you do get really really dark... roll your windows down all the time (that's what i do)

Haha no. (sorry if you posted with sarcasm)

Legally, you can't have anything darker than 32% on the sides and nothing on the front. I forget if there is a limit on the back.

That being said, I've had 20% sides and back for over four years now and have never been hassled by the law.

IMO, best looking is even all around. I have 5% all around and 35% on my windshield.

In my sig, it's about 2pm and me and my friend are inside with the windows down.

I had 2.5% on my Eclipse for like 2 years and the cops never said a word about it. And you get used to it at night, as long as its not raining its really not as bad as you might think. I had 20% on the back windshield and once again, no problems and i could see through it clearly.

legal is 32% on the driver and front passenger windows. if you have back seat windows they can be as dark as the rear glass if you want, which legally you can limo tint the back and rear door windows. window tint on the windshield is illegal below the mark on the windshield, or 6" down from the top if your car is older and doesn't have the mark. I think 20% all around looks great and you can usually get away with it if you just cruise with the windows down. up to you though.

i just got tint yesterday, i went with legal limit 35%.. I already get puled over enough as it is so I dont want to give cops any other reasons to, and i dont want to deal with a ticket and having to redo it legal later on..

Looks dark enough since my windows aren't that big and too dark is tacky imo.. Got my whole car done for 150$ w/ lifetime warranty.. pm me if you want details..

Uptown Tint and Sound in Athens is one of the best places I know of, and is the only place I take my cars. They can show you sample of different darknesses so you can get an idea of what you're dealing with. If you're anywhere near the Athens area, I recommend Uptown.

Depending on your location I have a real good buddy who does incredible work out of Blairsville. He just did my mustang 15% all around with a 10" drop on the windshield for $110. Lifetime warranty on his work, and the film he uses. PM me if your interested.

20% is the only way to go. My wifes C320 was just done it in 20% and now it's Damn Sexy.

On the other hand, inb the Teg I am gonna have the rear window done in 10-15% cause of Truck headlights in my eyes in the morning

Try 35% on the sides and 35-50% on the windshield. The meters police carry can't check the windshield so it's all good, if you put a darker strip on the top then you really can't tell that it's tinted. Decreasing the light through the windshield will give the side windows the appearance of being much darker yet the sides remain legal.

Safety glass in cars will always have a 3% decrease in light, my 20% tint always measured as 17% and 35% film comes out to the Georgia law of 32%.

u can legally put tint on the front window?

stillaneon
05-23-2008, 10:10 AM
Ok, On a car, 32% is as low as you can go. That is 35% film with a 3% assumed tint from the factory.

You can always go darker but there is no reason to. I have 35% all the way around, including my windshield and no one can see in.

ONLY TRUCKS AND SUV's WITH MORE THAN TWO DOORS CAN LEGALLY PUT BELOW 35% AND THAT ON THE BACK WINDOWS!!!

u can legally put tint on the front window? You mean windshield? It is not legal but there is no way for a light meter to be used on it, the only other way it can be checked is with the cards (various tint shades and held against the glass to compare) but I haven't seen an officer use one of those in 10+ years.

Cops have laser meters now

Cops have laser meters nowWha...Laser? It's just LED's.

The typical meter is the one piece design that slips over the edge of the glass, it can't be used on the windshield or window that doesn't roll down or open up.

I don't know how many officers in Georgia have the 2 piece light meters used for windows that don't roll down but i'd imagine it's really rare if even any...
