how do i find out if a gun is hot or not?

Call your local PD non emergency and give the the manufacture, model and serial number. Most jurisdictions will run it for you.

no you wont get in trouble if you bring it to the PD and ask if its legit. If its not, they are going to take it and they will expect you to tell them who you got it from.

murder some one and leave the gun at the scene...later on watch the news and they will tell you if the gun was stolen. they will keep the gun but you wont need it for home protection where you are going.

Depending on the year of the gun it may or may not be registered anymore. Most are untraceable anyway with all the illegal guns in our country. Half my guns aren't registered because the GOV doesn't keep track of them anyhow.

The new ones are but if its old, don't worry about it.

I would just go to a local gun store like bullseye or the other one down in atlanta. I think they get all the history on the gun before they purchase it from the previous owner. They have pretty good deals on used guns if you don't feel like purchasing one brand new.
