Ok today i changed my oil and decided to try out seafoam after two uses of Restore Engine Restorer... Ermm The guy at Advance told me i can put it in my Fuel tank because that's what he does. I've heard about adding it to oil too. lol
so here it is.. i dumped a whole bottle of seafoam into my oil as an additive. My car bogs, Idles LOW, revs weird... lol i called my friend and he said i did it wrong. lol He said i was suppose to do this and that step then change ooil, if i add it to oil. when i changed the oil, it was very thin or maybe it was the heat..
I'm just trying to get more info on this and to, also, inform others about seafoam so they dont fuuck anything up.
What are you suppose to do, exactly, with this SeaFoam?
Have anyone fugged anything up using this SeaFoam?

i've heard you can put it in your brake booster line , and it cleans, but not gunna recommend it.

yeah.. you did it wrong.. 1/3 can to your oil.. and then run for couple miles around 100? and then change your oil... 1/3 goes to your brake booster line and 1/3 goes into your gas tank..

yeah thing about putting it into your oil is you have to do an oil change after a few hundred miles cause it thins out your oil

and i believe one can holds up for 4qts or 5 qts of oil

1/3 into the brake booster

1 can yields for 8 gal of gas i believe

READ THE BOTTLE

Correct In Oil, Then Do Oil Change...

In Gas Tank, Pour Half Bottle With Only Like 1/8th Of Gas Left And Let It Run... The Fuel Is More Concentrated, Clean Better And More Affective...

The Other Half Can Be Sucked Into The Mani Through A Vaccuum Line... Then Watch The Built Up Carbon Come Out The Exhaust... Shi.t Load Of Smoke...

I used seafoam in my car worked great and helped my gas mileage out! i was told to do as follows.

To seafoam your car:

1) use 33% on gas tank with 9-10 gallons of fuel. Cleans fuel injectors, fuel lines, removes moisture from fuel lines. Put it in gas tank at the gas station, then fill it with 9 gallons of fuel, so it can mix well. Just read the bottle for the normal mix ratio.

2) another 33% goes to your crankcase. so open your oil cap and pour it in. *WARNING: It thins out your oil. DRIVE FOR ABOUT 10 MILES, THEN CHANGE YOUR OIL. KABISH??

3) Rest 33% goes to the intake manifold. It cleans intake valves, cylinder, top of the piston, exhaust valves, etc. To do this, you have to use any vacuum line that goes to the intake manifold. In my altima the brake booster line worked perfect.

reps are appreciated! :D

Why put anything in your engine other than oil?? Does Nascar, NHRA, Indy, F1 use this sh*t? NO! Dont use it!

don't use it if you have an excess of 100k miles. it could break down carbon that's deposited and settled into gouges, scratches, etc and you could lose compression after it.

so basically your saying on a high mileage engine, its good to have all that built up carbon in the combustion chamber and on top of the pistons all because of the compression increase? i duno . . :ninja:

this is a write up someone did over on e46fanatics.com, I tried it on my car and it worked perfect.

"After talking with some friends about carbon deposits and dirty injectors I came across a well known product called Seafoam, http://www.seafoamsales.com/ stuffs been around for years and is by many accounts the best automotive cleaner around.

So I gave it a shot, the results were phenomenal! I was experiencing a really rough idle/vibration and a little hesitation. I checked everything from plugs, coils, vanos, and even the engine mounts; all in good shape. I’m not saying this will work for everyone, but a lot of people that have used this method and product have experienced excellent results. It turned out that I had some dirty fuel injectors and probably a lot of carbon deposits throughout the engine (have 35K currently on the odometer) that was causing the above symptoms. Anyhow here’s what I did:

1. First go buy yourself a can Seafoam motor treatment, and one can of Seafoam Deep Creep (aerosol can), about $5 each. Also you’ll need a new hose clamp for the booster vacuum hose. It’s about a one half to three fourths diameter, eye ball it.

2. Making sure your engine is at operating temperature (don’t do this on a cold engine) locate the brake booster vacuum line (check the picture). You’ll have to pry off the “one-shot-deal” clamp from the hose. (You’ll be replacing it when you’re done with the new one you purchased).

3. Now the hard part, you have to remove the booster hose. It’s a pain because there is more than likely still a vacuum on it, what I did was carefully took a small flat head screwdriver and pried up underneath it and released the vacuum, then proceeded to wiggle it loose. This fitting has barbs on it so you can’t just yank at it or it’ll just get tighter, take your time it’ll come off. Also take off the weather stripping so that you can work with the hose.

4. Now once it’s off, get a funnel and wedge it in the hose. Have a buddy turn your car on, you will now notice a huge air draw (sucking noise) on the line, this is what you want. Then slowly begin to pour a little in at a time until you have used about one third to half a can of Seafoam. Caution: don’t just pour the whole can down at once, there’s this thing called hydro-locking which trust me you don’t want to think about. So just a little at a time, and you’ll be fine. Your buddy will have to keep the RPMs up (around 1.5K) so the car won’t die right off the bat. Remember half a can. After you’ve done this shut her down and wait about 5-10 minutes.

5. You’re done with this part, plug the vacuum hose back on and tighten it down with new clamp you bought. Tip put the clamp on hose before you put the hose back on the fitting, I know obvious….

6. Turn on your car, and let it idle for a few seconds, then let it rip, open it up to about 4.5k -5k RPM, now your really going to see what kind of crap is in your motor, smokes like a mother. This is all of the carbon and crap in your engine intake manifold, valves, lifters etc... It’ll stop after 15 minutes or so. Obviously do this in a well ventilated area!!!!

7. Now with the Deep Creep, pull out the hose assembly (marked DC on my figure) and while the engine is running again, spray the deep creep down in the hole, this is going to get your throttle body and idle position sensor cleaned up, use about a half a can. I recommend doing some, then go and drive around the block, then doing the other half.

8. Finally with the other half of your Seafoam (not the deep creep, the liquid) pour it into your gas tank, this will get your fuel injectors cleaned up nicely. Do this on a half a tank of gas, for a higher concentration.

9. You’re done, and you’ve done a cheep but highly effective tune up on a multitude of areas. Now just go and drive her a little harder than usual to get her nice and clean. You’re probably going to notice a huge difference.

Hopefully this helps some people out, it worked great for me!!!! Jason

Disclaimer: As usual your car your choice, don’t blame me!"

yea, I wouldn't do it to a car without a lot of miles. You can feed it through your vacuum lines, add it to your fuel tank and oil. Add a 1/3rd of it into your oil about a couple hundred miles before you plan to change it and add it to your fuel before you fill up.

not increase. compensation.
it FILLS in. clean that out, you have excess space.

lol wow people wow..

the only bad thing that ever happened to me from seafoam, was i accidently flooded the motor once.. But ive been using it for years!!! On all kinds of cars, new and old. Same results with all. Its not different from a induction service at the dealership, when thru the vaccum line, and a motor flush when ran thru the oil. the bottle really does tell u everything u need to know.

YMMV. i've heard horror stories about it. i wouldn't do it unless i owned a car under 70k miles.

i cant agree, with any of them. Alot of the bad stories, are from user error. That an injector might get clogged from the cleaning, or like me you might actually use a vaccum line that dumps the stuff into 1 cylinder, and floods it. But If you use it how your supposed to...it works fine.. my escort has 227k on it, and no harm no foil, my protege had 130k, and no foul.. my svt had 110k, no foul, moms pt cruiser has 160k no issues... :goodjob:

not going to read all the post but you messed up. putting a hole can in your tank is fine, whole can in your oil....bad. if you havent changed your oil again since you added all this stuff, i would change it! it does thin it out alot, being you added probably 2 or 3 times to much to your oil its probably worse.

my car has 280000 miles i just did a full sea foam treatment, in my gas, in my oil, sucked it up through the IM, everything. no problems, runs ALOT better. its only good to have that if your motor is beat up inside, guess mines not. no leaks or smoking from my car since then (except for when i burnt out all the sea foam)
