The 2nd annual NOS Energy Drink's IMPORT FACE-OFF at Alabama International Raceway in Steele, Alabama will be on Sunday, May 18th.



Gates will open at 10am. Car (http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2272890#) show registration from 10am to 12pm, judging begins at 12, awards ceremony at 5:30. Race qualifying at 12:00, 1:15, & 2:30. Eliminations at 3:45, 5:00, & 6:00 (or sooner). There are two entrances at this track, so no need to show up at 8/9am for first round.

i was pulling 1.7 all day Sunday, Peter pulled a 1.5 on that last run against clark!
he compared his time slip too his 9 sec pass slip,if he wouldnt have missed 4th gear it would have been a 9 sec pass!!

He had a helluva day, won the Outlaw and Street class. We had hoped to put on a better show for the Outlaw Final, but the car just wouldn't go into gear. Our first 2 runs the car went great on the 1-2 shift, but third was giving us grief all day long. Going by the ticket breakdown, the 330' on his first run was the same as his 9.3 pass a year ago, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be for the day.

Jimmy's happy w/ how the day went b/c nothing hard-broke, and hey we got to run the finals. The car has a LOT of potential in it, so don't be misled by the 10.6@130 that she pulled out. ;)

yea, Gary threw down yesterday, ultra nice guy though, JJ's race motor/tranny were literally finished and puf in saturday and put on the trailer, the first load the new motor and tranny saw was in the water box for rd 1 of qualifying, once the tranny issue is resolved its high boost tuning time and time to set some new personal bests for Jimmy.

exactly. some of the people working the event had no clue what ws going on. we were just there for TnT. we were in lane 1, and one of the workers told us to get lanes 3 and 4. i tried to explain to him those lanes were for people "actualy racing" and not TnT.
so he made 5 cars behind me move over there wich created a cluster **** for the workers keeping up with the brackets. :screwy:
Cliff puts on a good show, but he might want to screen his helpers a bit better. just my :2cents:

That bumper was the gayest thing I saw all weekend. Lots of imports earned my respect and the drivers were very cool to. I got see another side of the import world that I had not seen before. You on the other hand with your crying , POS bumper fiasco and oiling the track just sucked. Next time you should respect your competitors and and leave that junk at home until you can find a mechanic to work on it properly. If you need a job to afford some good parts, I am hiring.

HV20 also, great camera- hv30 doesnt seem to be any better from what i have seen and read as far as video quality anyways.

Ill be sure to put your pass in the video, it was a 10.5 pass i believe.

You dont need to live in the ghetto to test if your slicks will clear the bumper.....just need to have a driveway where you can turn the wheel lock to lock and move 5 feet. Thoguh, you should not drive that turd on a public street.....it is a moving hazard and unsafe...even at a dragstrip which is what you built it for. I am sure you will come back smoke free....body parts attached properly and run well. Has nothing to do with being outrun, or outclassed,I knew i was slow yesterday!! I even told Pro Performance i would give him the win, i was no competition for him. I was trying to fix the car,after each pass and we tought we had it fixed. How am i suppouse to tell without making a pass, reving the car wouldnt leak any oil,so its not like i went out there and did it for no reason!

Very well said. I am not a Mainstream groupie but they had their tents up and were chillin the whole time besides fixing whatever broke, or error was made. I dont understand why not just go up to them and speak your mind when you have the opportunity. I hate when people wait until they get on the internet to say things that they could have easily stated at events, meets, or what not. This isnt just pertaining to Danny, it's everyone on this damn forum. It's just sad when the girls on IA have more balls then the men.

I will admit I was upset at the clean up time on the track, but it's a part of racing. Axles brake, oils leaks, engines blow...Sh!t happens. I think it is how you carry yourself off the track, in person, and on the internets that state who you are.

I mean look at whomever built your car.....that was quite the embarrassment yesterday but I am sure that yours is not the poster car for their shop. You said you knew you were slow yesterday but yet you kept pulling that turd onto the track. Jason DID say something about you running but the starting line guy told him he thought you would be ok so Jason let you run.

Blake, it was a 10.17 pass @ 7.5psi. 4000 pounds baby!!
I have had good results with my hv-20 in "tv" mode...manually setting the shutter speed and the white balance to have colors match what i see vs what is on the screen. If you sharpen it some in post processing it looks really good. I do not like the wmv HD codec but it is common and folks can access it to view the videos easily

All i stated was i tought that was messed up. For him too pull me off the line after starting a burnout, I wasnt arguing!! INCOnit or whatever turned it into an argument, i could really care less. I do what i do for fun, it aint my job or living!!

Well i cant blame a shop or anyone but myself!! My motor has never seen a shop or was built in a shop. During the winter i put new pistons in the block and i did the rings myself, that was the 1st time ive ever done it, Now i regret it since im getting to much blowby.. This time peter is gonna rebuild it for me. Better safe then sorry!!

I think drag racing is a learning experience w/ a lot of different learning curves. Some people have motor/tranny/axle problems, some people have launching/shifting problems, and some people get everything dialed in within a few passes or a couple times at the track. I respect EVERYONE that goes out there and puts in all the time and money for little or no return.

I congratulate Peter, Danny, Pro-Performance, Tracy Hyte, and David Jackson for their accomplishments this weekend(I know they're a lot of others but I don't know them personally).

And it sucks that Spoolin had a axle break. It would have been a great race for him and Danny as it usually is when they line up.

Everybody has had their share of problems-not just Danny. Spoolin can preach on that one just like a lot of other people can. I respect both Danny and Spoolin for coming out year after year and having issues but still running. Both run high 10s so it'll be good competition everytime they line up next to each other and that's what drag racings about to us spectators!!

I've been crew to many different drag racers. Beef or not you usually tell the person what lane choice you want before they do the burnout. People just walk up and tell them their choice in the staging lanes. I've been crew at a couple NHRA/NDRA events where driver's hated each other and even fought a couple times but when it comes to lane choice they walk up or have a crew member walk up to the other driver/team and tell them their preference and leave it at that. What's the other person gonna say or do about it?

Blake, it was a 10.17 pass @ 7.5psi. 4000 pounds baby!!
I have had good results with my hv-20 in "tv" mode...manually setting the shutter speed and the white balance to have colors match what i see vs what is on the screen. If you sharpen it some in post processing it looks really good. I do not like the wmv HD codec but it is common and folks can access it to view the videos easily

i was on 28x10.5s et drags. I had some 325/50/15 MT DRs but sold em cause I knew I would drive them to/from the track (lazy) and they would be worn out in no time since steele is a 280 mile round trip for me. Car is a 408...4l80e trans...3.08 rear gear...2400 stall....dvd...a/c....koni shocks for the mountains....daily driver.

12s n/a is kickin ass. I know plenty of my ls1 bretheren who aint doing that!

I thought those wheels looked familiar Jerel. They do look really well on the CRX. It's really nice seeing an all motor car run well in this day and age of turbos. Hopefully you can get enough cars in the field so that you can get a full payout for your hard work. I must give credit to the guys from south GA. They have always had fast N/A cars and now it looks like they have added a turbo car. Good job Chip!

As far as the event; I had a great time. It was cool seeing the convertible Trans-am exit the highway behind me and get on the on ramp behind me after running 10 second times. I enjoyed myself and it was a great event for us spectators who didn't have anything to race.

I don't understand what happened with Peter and the guy with the red hatch. It looked like the other guy completely 'red-lit', but then I never saw Peter come back around. I was hoping to see a 9 second pass. Maybe next time.

Thanks to all of the racers for showing up and supporting the "import" races. We don't have that many and without you, we would be stuck looking at car shows in parking lots. Keep up the good work! :thumbup:

Yea, Peter made it too the next round,but after the last pass he made the clutch started giving him alot of trouble. He didnt wanna risk hurting the car again,like he did at the last IFO event. So he decided to sit that round out since he knew he wont be running that great anyways!!

Im not going to argue, all i can say is good luck protesting a car i dont own anymore!!! And just FYI the only thing you could protest was the front bumper, obviously none of the tracks care, about safety or oil pans or stuff!!!

I think all kind of protesting is GAY no matter what or who does it!! If you're gonna protest Danny you might as well start w/ your own camp and protest David Jackson and Turbo Dave. I personally like their setups but you can't choose one and not all. I'm still kinda up in the air on Clark running though-that car is just too damn fast not to have any saftey equipment at all.

From my short stint as crew member for Mahdavi Motorsports and then AAP Motorsports at NDRA events and local events-normally the driver or a crew member of the car that has lane choice comes over the opposing driver or team and tells them their decision. I've never seen any kinds of fights or arguments about it b/c that's how drag racing is and always has been. MSP Racing(Paul/Krystos Efantis) and Brent Rau had the biggest rifts which even led to couple straight up fist fights but when it came to racing and lane choice one would walk up to the other in the staging lanes and give the decision. Whomever had lane choice would go over and tell the other person or if they were already in the car tell their father or the brother. I never understood how they'd not get into then but in the pits it would be a brawl!! Funniest fights you'd ever see!!

dude, every race ive been to has had people placing the cars where they should be by lane choice, EVEN IFO, but not that event so i was thinking they were going to fix it right before the round but no they didn't and my ass isn't going to get out of my car all strapped in when i have 1 minute to claim my lane so i got my team mate to fix it.

and about protesting. I have bitched to turbo dave and Big Dave about safety and they know how i feel but i have NO REASON to protest anything they have because i have never nor will i probably ever race against their vehicles so they can do as they please. If me and Turbo Dave race it will be strait up grudge racing where it doesn't matter who wins and there isn't any money on the table. Turbo Dave wants to put a cage in his truck and he will eventually.

Well according to someone above they did protest my car and the track allowed me too continue. I tried after each pass to fix the oil problems and had noway of telling that it will still doing it until i made a pass, after i noticed it was doing it i pulled to the wall so i wouldnt oil it down anymore. ALso about my cage not being certified, atleast i had one in the car unlike other racers. WHen i was running Ndra they told me i could run but they would DQ me after i hit 10.5 sec which was fine too me.

So not saying you would have but trying to protest my car for not being certfied is just dumb since most cars there didnt even have cages in them.

As far as lane choice, i have asked a few big times racers and they even stated that if you did that at a NDRa race, they would have told you too bad, you must choose lane before hand... oh well all said is done..
