as most know... i'm buying a little DD ej.... BUT i will probably turn this into a project as well...

this car looks like it's a 4x4 it's so jacked up looking...

so i was looking into lowering it...

i'm buying some springs with a 2.5 inch drop (front and rear springs) and i don't wan to put them on stock struts...

so what's a decent.. yet still cheap set of shocks/struts....???

or should i go another route??(i know nothing about suspension... really)

i saw some GABRIEL shocks/struts on egay for like 150 for the set.... is that something to stay away from?

gabriel are decent struts, but i think what you have to worry about is if hte struts are for 'lowered vehicles' i think you may want to look into illuminas or kyb struts...but..if u want i think someone has a set of coilovers on ci.net for like 400. u will almost be spending that getting springs and struts..lemme know and ill chk out the thread and see if its for hte 92-95 civic/94-01 integra

just fyi 92-95 civic/94-01 integra use same suspension

no, i'm not spending near 400 for springs and struts!!!

i'm not looking for the best ones out there... as this car isn't gonna be run hard or raced or whatever... just want a smooth ride... the springs i've found for like 60 bucks used.. and online new they are 160 ish.... so i figure they are semi decent.. and now i'm just looking for some semi decent struts!!!

... oh and another thing.. i don't have to have these right away.. not like the car isn't driveable as is.... i'm just gonna start slowly buying random parts.. then one day/weekend put everything on and clean the car up quite a bit...

just gonna do it slow and take my time... so that i don't blow all my money at once...

what brand springs? and u can find some nice used struts too. to be truthful, my ride when i had my DC wasnt all that bad when i dropped it the 3" and i was still on stock struts (bad idea) but i'm sure u can get away the 2.5 for a lil while. but there are some good deals that go down on this forum w/ used struts too

sprint springs....

and yeah, i've been stuck in the parts section... and i haven't even bought the civic!!!

my luck.. the stockers would blow.. i just don't want to risk it.. i'm gonna buy the springs now... and the struts later prolly...

damn..thats cheap i bought my sprint springs for $100 shipped (3" drop). youll like those springs, they ride pretty nice for the drop.

i have sprint springs on my ej coupedizzacks, they ride pretty good actually for straight springs and dead shocks. if you are going to get shocks though you need to get shocks that have a shortened shock body and if you can get a set of custom or professional extended tophats, otherwise your shocks will bottom out quite quickly. if you havent already lowered your car and are wondering what it will look like LMK and ill post pics

i had KYB's on my civic back in the day, but they were a tad stiff. Even though they were adjustable, the ride never felt soft.

kyb's are out of the price range either way....

i'm only paying 700 for the car.. i'm not gonna pay 4-500 for a set of struts/springs! lol!!

i bought the headlights off of Ebay... came as a set with cheap corners and ghey foglights which i didnt use and sold. they looked nice and functioned as they were supposed to but overall they kinda sucked compared to the OEM pieces they replaced. the black housings fogged up alot in the rain, both had a slight slight slight issue with fitment and light output was horrible.. there was more glare than light on the actual road lol but i guess it was alright, kids loved how it looked.

shocks? cheap? for a lowered car? wont happen... good shocks for a lowered car is not cheap, especially ( lol @ grammar ) if your car is lowered a good amount. Koni yellow's, KYB AGX, Tokiko Illumina's paired with extended hats are all good shocks for what your looking for but a little high when it comes to price. if your not looking to spend much on shocks stick to your stock ones because whatever cheap shocks you buy will blow out and will ride the same as blown stock shocks.. in the end your just gonna end up spending more money :2cents:

they are nearly 300 on that site...

here's the deal... i don't need the best of the best....

but at the same time i don't want to be buying new parts all the time... ya know? this isn't going to be some decked out bad a car... motor is staying stock (unless i have to replace it.. then i may upgrade...) i just want it to look semi decent..

Dude if you need some help with it I'm always around. Plus Ed already has experience repairing Tori's Honda now so whats another one? :lmao:

Seriously though, I would recommend Tokico Illumina or KYB AGX shocks. Both of them are adjustable and shouldn't blow with the higher spring rates of the sprint springs. If you buy cheap shocks, you will just have to replace them sooner.

Also, if you really want to paint the car, I've got plenty of room at my place to do it if you need space.
