I don't know if this is a repost, but i would like to hear everyone's opinions on this matter.

I went to someone's myspace and heard the song "I just died in your arms tonight," but in a rap verion. Instead of Cutting Crew's Nick Van Eede singing it.

It got me to thinking, most of older people -or people who like older music- might feel horrible that someone would take a hit song and turn it into something new and put their own mix on the words.

I found two different ways they do this.

Way 1 - They sing the words themselves, even though it is someone else's song.

Way 2 - They cut out bits and pieces of the origina song and put it in their song.

I mean, come on, if the music industry is paying you the big bucks, can't you come up with your own original stuff? The music has been taken away from the artist, they only care about the money being put in their pockets.

Rappers do it all the time. It's definitely not a new occurence. I agree that it's kind of lame that they can't come up with new stuff, but at the same time, most rappers aren't what I would call musicians...more just lyricists. Songs that sample others generally seem to be the big singles too.
