Well ive been going over my finances... and its getting rough out here in this economy. Im really seeing the effects of the recession at hand... but ive thought to myself ( Feeling the same as Chris for this matter) should i constantly put mileage and gas into my bimmer? i have a nissan maxima just sitting in my driveway... i would save around 400 a month by switching and using the nissan for a while. So what im trying to get at is I graduate December 2009... that means i get commissioned the same day into the Marines. Should i live below my means for a while if it would actually save money in the long run... I have no student loans and about $1000 total in debt...

Whats everyones take on this? Please discuss and let me know your opinions or how you feel this economy is doing to your pockets

I Feel you totally... im thinking about trying a 6month thing where i storage the Bimmer for 6 months and drive the maxima... i want to see total how much I save and dont spend on trying to upgrade the thing... if its out of site... it will be out of mind until its time to uproot its evil....

And the Dinan supercharge kit will be on it once the 6months is up if the total savings is where i want it to be

****, do it for a week and you will feel a big difference. I drive an integra to and from work, errands and sometimes to other places. 30/35 bucks for a tank. Drive on a tank for two weeks.

I sold my car cause I wanted outta the payments. I was given a talon by family members, so no payment and decent gas milege....till it breaks..:)

im selling my SC for this same reason. I picked up a honda for dirt . I cant afford the 20mpg the SC300 gets, and i sure as hell dont want to have it this summer when gas is 5$ a gallon.

Im going to chill with the honda until stuff settles down

this shoulda been in wallstreet just for purposes of not having a thread jacker come in and take it over, but yes i agree..whatever is cheaper on gas, by all means drive it. i can't wait to get my truck back so i can park the maxima and drive the truck.

truck = 87 octane w/ no bigger than a 12 gal tank and about 27 MPG at least

maxima = 93 octane w/ about a 18 gal tank and about 25 MPG or less

u do the math

everyone will end up parking their cars, and buying Ruckus'.

For those that dont know, Honda Ruckus=scooter=good gas mileage=not getting there quickly!

Drive the maxima for a while and use the bimmer on the weekends. Less mileage, less chance of door dings, etc. Have you tried other ways to save money? I mean i saved $20 a week not eating out.

X2 LOLZ I GET 25MPG IN MY MAX..THATS WITH NEW PLUGS...COMING FROM MY GSR THAT I COULD GET FROM 28-32MPG...THE MAX IS OK..BUT FOR ALMOST THE SAME SPEED I CAN GET BETTER GAS MILEAGE AND A SMALLER TANK.

U JUST HAVE MORE SPACE TO SIT

I would do it man. I'm gonna be tryin to talk my dad into letting me get rid of the 3G and getting a GTI or something cause on a 15 gallon tank I'm getting maybe 300miles on a tank and I do mostly highway driving and I gotta stick premium in it. I wouldn't mind so much if I got better mileage out of it but its just suckin gas and once I get out of school gas is on me. Not to mention these things start breaking like a mofo once you hit around 100k miles and I got 86k

There's a reason, among others, I'm thinking of selling my M3 :(

I'd definitely store it for a little while, man, you'd without a doubt save some $.

Yep! Or close to it. My fiances z28...eats up gas, he normally drives his motorcycle bc of how gas is, can't say I blame him.

If the price of gas is hitting ya'll this hard, you have bigger problems. Does paying $3.50 a gallon suck? Yes, Is it gonna take food out of my family's mouth? Hell no. Spend less than you earn, save the rest.

I've helped several people reach there gas saver goals this year.

You'll be ok 95atly, your debt is low and your plans are stable.
