I've got two

One is getting the full SVD treatment, by the time I get finished, most wont be able to see a difference.

The other is unmolested.

these days the only place to get ammo is online through the bigger retailers, and buy in bulk.

For cheap bulk ammo, order it from a catalog/online....

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com
http://www.sportsmansguide.com
http://www.ammoman.com

those three usually fluctuate with the best price and get most of mine for all of my guns through one of the 3.

also check out wideners and ammunitiontogo

my dad has one in his collection, altohugh it's a super rough condition war-era one that doesn't shoot overly well, so we usually stick to the AK if we want to shoot 7.62x39.

and yea, online is pretty much the best way to go for ammo.
aside from the sites listed above, i've used/checked out these a good bit:

www.aimsurplus.com
www.jgsales.com
www.wideners.com
www.ammunitiontogo.com

gun kicks alittle more than a 22, but hardly nothing to be honest. when i have handloads made i would acually bet that this would be a hell of a deer rifle with the right rounds.

1000 rounds, 179.99 shipped = 18 cents each

orrr.. I just get mine from bullseye gun range in lawrenceville, its like 4.99 a box sometimes which isn't too much more expensive if i'm tryin to only get a few box

i third ammoman or cheaperthandirt. I get all my ammo from ammo man (but i dont fire 762 rounds).

5000 rounds for under 1000 bucks, seems decent to me?
http://www.ammoman.com/index.htm

someone above me mentioned like 18 cents a piece, so u might want to go that route (if it includes shipping). Some online ammo sales rape u in shipping, ammoman pricing includes shipping and will have the ammo to ur door a few days after ordering.

i got 200 rounds today from the new gun store beside the bowling alley on 301, for 55.53 with tax. they are Wolf as well, but i was treated extremely nice, alot of respect. i do however plan on doing business with them in the future, so for you locals, take your business out there. wallmart sells 20 rounds of 7.62x39 for 14.57. this gun store sells them for 5.19.

i used to have a sk, but i sold it about 2 years ago. it was a chinese edition. i think the rounds for the gun are will go thru bulletproof vest. i'm not sure. i know there was a story about a hispanic or korean guy in cali who went crazy when he was on leave from the marines. took an sks, and had a shoot out the cops at a conveint store. took down about 6 of them before he was down for the count.

If you're firing jacketed 7.62x39mm rounds they'll go through any body armor the cops are using. Hollow points will probably do it too.

You know, if that's a selling point for anyone.
