What the hell?? $2.55 for goddamn 87 octane. Shit someone pull that moonshine out I need some cheap gas, my cars old anyways.

Should the gov't just take over the oil fields in Iraq cause were liberating them to offset costs of war, and lower the price of gas for us??????

Why bitch about it? lol

We have to pay it, no matter how high it gets.... We can thank China for a good chuck of our higher gas prices, Now that they are so dependant on oil, thats one main reason OPEC cant keep up with production now.

seriously as much as I hate it I have to pay for it no matter what b/c I have to get to work somehow.

We get the majority of our oil from South America, what we don't produce ourselves. Europe is the most dependant on the Middle East's oil.

I use 93 octane.

reason why i love my civic, and my mazda... great gas cars! $10 gives me 3/4th tank and it lasts for average 5 to 6 days i have estimated

IndianStig
08-15-2005, 09:00 PM
Ouch 93 octane wasn't even 2.85 it was like 2.90.

actually we can bitch about it... our gov have lots of control on prices and many options... we are spending 200+ billion dollars on a loosing war w/ a country that has enough oil to supply us w/, we have oil reserves, the 4 top oil companys are US/Brittish.... the gov could make tax breaks/relief for either the customer or the refiners to adjust the prices.

we won't see anything happen b/c the richer are getting richer, that includes our administrator and the rest of the jackasses in office in DC. we are at all time highs and it is still going up ;)

was it like this during desert storm? I cant remember

Brett
08-15-2005, 09:09 PM
No, this time its more to do with the fact there are more countries now that are much more undustrialized, like China who is putting a huge strain on the oil demand, among us and other countries, thats what hurts us at the pump

they need to make a golf cart only lane on the highways.

IndianStig
08-15-2005, 09:12 PM
Hybrid car owners should be given a 3 lanes of the highay and no speed limit, just take out the cup holders and we'll be fine. And a $3000 tax refund.

mission accomplished

it will boost the economy in the long run...if we succesfully controlled all of the oil fields, do you really think it would mean lower pricing? are you not familiar with monopolies and the resultant consumer pricing? who failed economics?

I didnt say its all them, But its fact they are putting a huge strain on the supply now that they are as dependant as we and a few other countries are on oil, no matter where its recieved from.

China's oil imports doubled over the past five years and surged nearly 40% in the first half of 2004 alone. These increases vaulted the mainland ahead of Japan and into second place among the world's biggest oil consumers, behind only the U.S.

That's a lot more demand. There is a difference in greenlands demand for oil doubling, and a country like china.

10 years ago you were considered wealthy to have a car in China, now cars are affordable to the middle class.

Welcome to the 70's and the gas crisis all over again. If you look back it was the gas crisis that killed the V8 muscle cars and now everyone is going back to smaller 4 cyl cars. The only thing is we have not hit the high that they did back then, but at this rate it is not too far off.

well no shit i already knew that, but your still missing the big picture... the top 4 oil companys are US/Brittish owned(we are their biggest client at home anyway), if you are at the top would you let any other companies in??? no the gov could take many steps to help out US consumers but you won't see anything happen b/c their pockets are being lined w/ oil $$$.

chrisdavis

the gov could make tax breaks/relief for either the customer or the refiners to adjust the prices.

Congress just gave a tax break to the oil companies, somewhere between 1.4 and 4.6 billion dollars. Meanwhile the oil companies are recording record profits this year.

ExxonMobil 7.64 billion so far this year
BP 5.4 billion
Shell 5.3 billion
Conoco 3.19 billion

Oil is expected to top 70 dollars a barrell by this weekend. With record profits and a massive tax break, you would think there would be a drop in price but its not going to happen. It also makes you really start to wonder who the govt is looking out for. I still have to pay it regadless of price so I dont bother complaining about it.

I wanna trade my car in for a sports bike. Is it a good idea seeing as how I'm so young? How old do you have to be to get the license?
