240sx running rich...

ok i have a 1995 240sx and its running rich, and its pretty bad it back fires like crazy and stinks really bad, what can i do to fix it? its got new plugs, just can think of anything that could be wrong. maybe the O2 sensor? but the check engine light is not on. i appreciate any help

yeah, if the car has one. if not, the adjustment may be in the cam angle sensor
