What's up guys and girls, I'm trying to get some people together to start a Formula SAE team here at Kennesaw State. I know this is no engineering school, but there are enough people around this area that share the passion for motorsports, so I know this is possible.

For anyone that doesn't know what Formula SAE is, it is a national/international competition where students completely fabricate a small formula style race car with a maximum 600cc engine(usually sport bike engines). And these things haul ASS! The competition includes track time trials, acceleration tests, braking tests, handling, etc, etc, etc. There is a lot involved and it looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

Check it out here http://students.sae.org/competitions/formulaseries/about.htm

Also a google search for "formula sae" will return many different sites including other schools' cars, pics, build ups, specs, etc.

If we are legitimate enough the school will partially fund our "club". I think it will be considered an RSO- registered student organization. Also, if this begins building up, I will invest money myself in some specific tools I don't have- an arc welder and a lathe- two major tools that I have always wanted and that are absolutely imperative for fabrication.

Let me know if you guys have any interest or suggestions. My name is Hunter Gahl, you can email me at [email protected] or find me on facebook.

Who would be founding this?
Would we have to start from scratch?

any idea for funding?
have you actually looked at getting this to be a club?
you need to not be on prob for that. also you need a professor to supervise i believe.
