I hooked up my Autometer Electrical water temp gauge..and it reads the highest it goes. 250f

I know my car isnt that hot or overhearts. Its Filled to top with coolent and even some in the overflow/reserve.also both of my fans work.

how hot to cars generally run? also the sending unit broke so its ghetto rigged and has a screw with the wire wrapped around the screw sitting inside the broken sending unit..but even before i over tighned the sending unit a no name brand gauge read 250..

well..what part are u asking about..im not sure abt the water, but i know that the combustion chamber on some can reach 2000. if u think abt it..water boils at like 212, but im pretty sure coolant in an engine would be from like 220 to 250..

well the gauge just looks funny it reads 100-250.and as soon as the car turns on it goes straight to 250. and i thought the OEM temp gauge was reading that.so i hooked my autometer gauge to that sending unit since i broke my OEM temp gauge..

ok i think i fixed the problem..I modified the Autometer sending unit to fit inside my broken off sending unit-apparently Autometers sending unit grounds the sending unit wire also while it sends the info.
so i did that and cranked it up..cold outside, been sitting since last night..it goes a little over 100 and im sure if i drive around and get it warmed up itl start rising.

but its better than going straight to 250+
