UGH tonight for the LOSE

GAH... So for those of you who missed the memo... I bartend for a living on the weekends... let me be sure to point out FOR A LIVING... Well after the ankle catastrophe, I called my manager and was like "sooo what do you want me to do?" He told me to hobble on in at 10 and he would have me on the door. Door people are tipped out and are paid a shift fee. So I say "hokay" and hobble in. I got in at 10pm, left at 4am, and walked out the door with fxcking $38... I was like "are you KIDDING me?" The bartenders made $130 a pop, and I am gonna make $38 for 6 hours of work? I mean, granted it wasn't hard work... just checking ID's and giving people wristbands, but I had to yell at some people who were being idiots and had to deal with "oh I know so-and-so and he always lets me in". GAH... freaking A...

:2up: to tonight... and I have at least 4 weeks of this left before I can be off crutches.... EFF THAT. My only saving grace is the cash I had saved up for my car's engine build... looks like that's going to bills and my car's engine will be relatively stock this season. :(

And as far as popping a bunch of painkillers goes, I thought about it, but then thought a little harder... I have a really bad sprain and some hairline fractures in my ankle, so I would rather stay off of it at work and let it heal correctly than not and have it bother me for the rest of my life, you know? Poor is temporary... lack of mobility in an ankle is definitely not.

On the positive side of it, I did have a TON of hot chicks fawning over me and being all like "that sucks so bad! Do you want me to get you anything? You have to stay here by yourself all night? We'll hang out and chat with you!".

My boss came over and was like "Torture, isn't it?" teehee

I waited tables a couple of years ago in a place that turned 21 and up after a certain time, and I got stuck at the door a few times. I was not a fan, so I definitely feel your pain. I'd say go hopped up an pain meds and keep working the door. It'll make your night more enjoyable.

We're overstaffed, but I agree, which is why I wasn't too terribly upset. They had 4 bartenders behind the bar, and they were tripping over each other. They definitely could have gotten by with two, and then they would have made almost $300 each, which is MUCH more like it.
