Hey all, Im afraid my Jeep Cherokee is probally going to die soon 223,000 miles, but still strong, but when it does eventually die on me, Ill be looking to buy a different car, Heres the Choices.
1. 1990-1996 300zx TT
2. 1989-1993 240sx
3. 2000-2004 Sentra V Spec
(Maybe, but not likely)
4. 3000gt VR-4
Im looking to have a fast car, for daily driving, and for racing on and off the track. I know the 300zx comes stock with more Horsepower than the competitors ( Besides the Vr-4), but if I spent the money to buy a TT I wouldnt have the money to customize it ALOT, like lets say I could do with a 240, My budget will be around 12 grand.
I appreciate all opinions, and thanks ahead of time.

1. i hear that replacement parts are a PITA to get, and theyre extremely expensive...especially if what breaks has anything to do with the turbo(s)...
2. dont know much on this car.
3. I've heard they are extremely PEPPY. lol, quick off the line. Also, a pretty nice car, if you ask me.
4. 3000gt = FWD. FWD FTL. it may be a fast front wheel drive car, but still a front wheel car.

I'm pretty sure the VR-4 was a TT AWD car.

My sister's Jeep Cherokee ( 1991 ) is about to eclipse 400,000 miles and its still going strong. I wouldn't worry about it dying too soon if you take care of it

the Z and the VR4 are gonna be a pita to work on and to find parts for. When you do find parts, its gonna be expensive.

the 240 is the next civic. that means 2 things, one, you won't be very different, but two, you will be able to mod for super cheap! Better yet, there is a 240 for sale with an RB25DET motor going for. you guessed it, 12 grand. (I think it's on 240 Atlanta though)

hmmm....
300zx, pain to work on, expensive to maintain
240sx, tons of options, easily makes hp with many swaps
sentra, crap...
3000gt, pain to work on, expensive to maintain
if you want a nissan, b13 (?) sentra se-r ftw

Correct you are.
As for the OP, I'd say it depends entirely on how you'd like to spend your time with the car. If you like something that already comes fast and very fun to drive, go with a 300zx or VR-4. If you want to spend time building a car go with a 240.
The 300zx and VR-4 were both in my short list for cars I was interested in after my Mustang was slain. Both nice cars.

True having a 300zx TT, with Z1 so close, it wouldnt be too hard to find parts.

If you're looking for a nice daily drive with some power I would go with the 240. With 12k you could do alot of things to it, my second choice would be either the vr4 tt awd or the 300zx tt. The Spec V is a joke when it comes to modifying.

watch out for either the 02 or 03 spec v's (i can't remember which year) one of those years had some kind of engine issue...d_day87 had one...i'll direct him to your thread so he can tell you exactly what happened b/c i can't remember exactly.

Ooh, sounds nasty. I would avoid that car anyway. Not bad, but compared to the other things on your list... Plus I can't stand fwd anymore. btw the VR-4 is tt awd like someone said. The 3000GT SL is the front wheel drive one.

i would stay away from the 3000gt and the sentra
cant go wrong with a 240 or 300zx
if ur going for something a little different do not get a 240
everyone is trying 2 get a 240 now

yeah spec-v is a definate no no. i had one, 56k miles and boom motor blew up. after new motor installed nothing was ever right again. piece of siht. but i personally would go with a 240, but what i would really get is a B13 sentra se-r, sweet little sleepers with the SR under the hood.
