The prototype Nissan GT-R V-Spec, wearing the "Victory Specification" designation reserved for the ultra high-performance Nissan GT-R, has been caught lapping the famed Nürburgring at an incredible, if not simply unbelievable, 7:25 per lap. This, according to bystanders trackside.

(For comparison, Walter Röhrl lapped the Ring in 7:28 while driving a Porsche Carrera GT in 2004.)

In contrast to the standard Nissan GT-R, that made the run around the 'Ring in 7:38, the GT-R V-Spec has a new front splitter, modified rear spoiler, and different wheels. A more extensive use of carbon fiber has reportedly reduced the weight by upwards of 330 pounds. Of course, Nissan engineers also tweaked the twin-turbo powerplant for another 70 horses... or so. Thanks for the tip, XeroK00L!

Dealers are marking up those badboys like madmen.

Putting up those numbers, its no surprise how un-tunable the GT-R's are going to be, you cant improve upon perfection.

I would hardly call the GTR perfection. Ferrari maybe but GTR definitely not.

I would cut certain toes off for a Enzo or FXX but in reality I would say as long as the GTR is as Reliable as a Sentra I would say it is perfect. Hell Car and Driver said in comfort mode it is like driving a Town car. They also said it had more steering feel than a 997 TT. It may be the Nissan fanboy in me but I think it is pretty damn perfect.

7:32 With Walter Rohrl Driving

I would still take the 911 GT2/Turbo/GT3 over the GTR though......I just love the 911 that much.

This video was almost a response to the GTR's 7:38......Porsche official test driver Walter Rohrl also drove the Carrera GT to a 7:29 but here is the amazing 911 GT2 lap. (http://videos.streetfire.net/video/911-GT2-997-Takes-the-Nurburgring-in-732_144810.htm)

there are plans for a 2 door rotory return.

But do you want Mazda to make a $70,000 car........i dont.

With the GTR success....its a good possibility.

i doubt the new rx7 if made would cost that much, the top model fully loaded rx8 is what about 35-40k? I mean if mazda truly makes a true performing rx7 i dont think it would see 70k. i do see the new rx7 with a turbo renesis tho...

but kev, i can never intentionally hurt the mazda name

i understand....im just worried with a car like the gtr, the average person performance car will get further away.....its hard enough making a $500+ month car payment......and until i graduate i cant do $1000+.
