Spiders creep me out, but I usually just wind up stomping on them.

The only that tends to bother me is when bad things happen to fingernails. Getting ripped off, snapped off, or something like that.

It's weird though. I can watch a person get beheaded, dismembered, gutted, have their eyes stabbed out, teeth pulled, or have a drill taken to their forehead and I'll be perfectly fine and maybe get a laugh out of it. Start messing with fingernails though, and I'll start to get sick.

HOW DO YOU GUYS THINK YOUR PHOBIAS CAME ABOUT?

i was able to track what i believe was the source of my early fear of spiders.

when i was a lil kid(about 6yo) i used to read my pops college books and he was studying many subjects(geology,entemology,etc) at one point in time and i had a habit of using a magnifying glass to get details of pictures if they were shown. (he used me as a gopher in the field lol!)

well he brought in a book on entemology one night and i remember me reading to him and we started talking about the anatomy of arachnids (he'd quiz me: "what is the thorax" etc.) and i'd point them out to him.

the one night that did it for me as far as my fear....i was looking at photos of spiders just before i went to bed, and with a magnifying glass.
bed time came and i was sent to bed.

i woked up later on that night to a HUUUUUUUUUUGGEEEEE ASS SPIDER IN FULL DETAIL STRADDliNG MY BED....though it was a nightmare, i never forgot the detail of the spider and from that day on, i was nearly paralyzed by the sight of such detail in spiders(big ones).


but after my car wreck i was surprised to realize i no longer had the fear of spiders, as one night not too long afterwards, a big ass spider was in the bedroom of the house me and the missus share, i grabbed the spider off the wall, walked it outside and placed it on a tree and walked back inside.

no fear, no paralysis, nothing. i think the wreck knocked fear aside.
