What BOV?

what BOV you guys think i should get? HKS ssqv or Greddy type-s?

im running a 16g intercooled evo turbo on my base 03 lancer.

i think im leaning tord the greddy, but opinions on both with be great.

One of them is not better than the other. All BOV's are relatively the same in performance. It all comes down to what sound you prefer in the end.

Well judging by your sub-name, im assuming you want something that will get your car noticed. I recommend the newest HKS SSQV, they sound nice.
I run a first gen HKS SQV in my R32, that was before BOV's got all VVRRHOOOSHH.

Not true my friend. All BOV's are not created equally. Some are rated for more pressure than others. I know that HKS makes one to handle up to 40+ psi and others liek the Greddy Type S will not be able to handle as much. For me, I would go with the Tial 50 mm unit cause its actually 50.5 mm and you can get different spring rates and the thing sounds pretty BA. Do some research before you get a BOV. Choose the right one fro your application and I know your aking what one is the best for your application. You cant go wrong with Tial:goodjob: IMO.

what stormhammer says is true though. TECHNICALLY they all surve the same purpose, but you're right that they differ in the spring rates. thats why there's usually more than 1 version or spring available.

Not entirely true. Lower quality valves will have a tendency to leak, and you'll lose boost.

Greddy, Perrin, and TurboXS actually make really good stuff. Greddys street BOVs sound pretty unique, as well. I know the Perrin ones are designed for something like 120lbs of pressure. :goodjob:

A BOV is something you want to spend the money on, to be honest...seeing as you probably have a lot of money in your ride.

yeah as far as how much psi it can handle, never in my life time will this car ever be running over 20psi. only running 10 right now, but once i build the motor ill be up and around 18-20.

but anyway, im a basic noob with the hole turbo thing. i just went into building up the car almost blind , just knowing basic stuff and to my luck the car started up yestday :D. any way i do know i need a BOV that recirculates. right now ive got a stock evo 8 plastic one.. got it for 10bux and the nipple was broken off and glued back on.. and it just broke back off again.

the synapse has a recirculation fitting as well as an anti stall valve.

get a SYNAPSE like mine, they are laek tested to 100psi in house before being boxed and shipped, no diaphram either! got mine for 195$ shipped on ebay, check out youtube.com and type in synapse, you will see what i mean.

true, until they make you lose PSI because they can't hold it, causing a drop in HP. 1psi= 15hp over 13psi (I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong)

MOST people buy BOV's based on noise..not performace.

I'm prob going to get laughed at.......but I liked my GFB 50/50. I had a bearable sound and still allowed you ro recirclulate like a stock bypass valve. Frankly, I find an HKS annoying, but you might not mind it. I'm pretty sure they make one for the EVO.

the 50/50 is half air release, so it does have a nice whooosh sound. If sound will make the decision for you, I suggest you google a few sound bits.

what i loved about the rs. is it has a extreamly loud whooosh at wot and a whole diff sound at half throttle releases, kinda sounds like a turkey call lol

my ssqv has the fins removed and its just a loud ass whoosh at full boost (it did has a bit of a squeek before), plus the staccato bursts at low boost and even a little bit of that while staying in vacuum
