i dont have a car yet but i plan on getting one soon and i will be putting a b series motor in it, if it doesnt have a b-series in it already. (keep in mind this is for a daily driver, not some drag car when recommending stuff please!) i just wanted to start looking into and learning about them now so when i do get a car and motor i dont try to rush or something and screw it up with raggidy brands or not knowing what im doing. just wanted to know on what type and brands of turbo kits i want to look into, where to get them, if the "turbo kits" actually come with everything i will need for putting it on a stock motor. what other stuff i will want to considering when getting a kit, such as other bolt on stuff i could use, or if motor should be built, or even what motor i should consider since i may not have one in the car yet. ive heard an LS is the best for turbo but i dont know, if its just good or a gsr would be better. i pretty much need to know everything, i probably cant tell you what the parts are called, how it works (well sorta i just read something on a site), what psi is recommended for what motors, or anything like that. so any help will be greatly appreciated, im not new to cars and swaps just turbos and building motors to be faster so im not completely retarded.

i know this has been on here before, but w/ stock internal don't go over 6-8 lbs of boost, if you build the eninge you can go higher of course. i like the b18 over the ls but ls or a ls w a vtec would be good as well just search and see what you want.

do you mean the b16 over the ls? ls, gsr, type r, siR are all a B18 something. if i find a car with a motor that needs internal work then im going to build the motor, but if i find a car and the motor is fine i probably wont. and im sure this has been in here, but i originally posted it somewhere else and there was no other similar threads

the gsr b18c1 or type R b18c3 not the b18B(the ls motor) i like the vtec but you could always do an ls/vtec setup. i just prefer the b18c's because i have friends who drive them and I'm more comfortable working on them I've never done anything w/ an ls except minor bolt ons to another friend of mine but their pretty quick too, but not as the b18c1 my other buddy has. Yeah if you want a little boost w/ no build thats cool, but if you go over 8lbs be careful and build the motor fo sho.

ok, i prefer vtec too, and ive heard ls/vtec is the way to go, but i wouldnt do that unless i bought a ls vtec swap, and not built my own, unless i really looked into how to do that too.

ok first off the type R has a b18c5 not 3 second ls/vtec is not the way to go there verry hard to get right most people have had serious problems with it greddy is allways a good way to go especialy for a dd theres more out there im sure that people will post them up but if i were you i wouldnt do it till you build the motor at the verry least pistons and rods just my 2 cents though

yeah i was trying to figure out where he get c3 was type r but i left it alone. i was talking to my supervisor and he was saying i want to try to make sure i used something that is forged, or get some forged pistons for it

LS/VTEC is not hard to get right. All that is needed are the proper tools and hardware and you will have a reliable setup. I personally have an LS/VTEC and have no problems from the engine. This is not a difficult setup to put together. If you can swap the motor, then you can build this setup. This goes for any setup.

Most people who build an LS/VTEC half-a$$ it and then have it blow-up on them. Like I said, if you build it right, then you should have no problems. Don't just go get the first LS block you can find and slap a VTEC head on it and hope it will work. Do some research and you will find that this can be a very good setup.

Here are good links to information regard different setups with forced induction and also about a LS/VTEC.

i looked through your links, pretty helpful. dont know if its missing something or if i jst thought it was harder than that to do a ls/vtec. good pages though

As bafbrian said, it really isn't that hard. You just need the right tools and a little patience. If you can build it right you won't have any problems. I know people that have had their ls/vtec setups running for about 1 1/2 to 2 years now with no problems. Just do a little research, or find a friend who knows what they are doing.

As for forced induction I personally think the GSR is one of the best motors to boost on if you are just going to run it as a stock daily. The b18a/b is also great but you won't be able to run as much hp as running a vtec setup. I have had a few people running on 10-11psi stock motor. Highest I've ever gone was 8psi(fear factor) All in all it depends on how you want it. But I advise that you get it tuned after you get it all done.

What ever you decide ... GL.
